Fresh, flavorful Japanese food that goes beyond sushi and sashimi. The chefs are excellent, the fish is always fresh and the servers are overwhelmed and polite. Highly recommended getting several small plates of different things to experience a variety of flavors and foods and to venture beyond rolls and sushi. The set dinners are a good value but not as good as getting little bites, especially if you're not by yourself and can share. My favorites are any of the steamed fish with mushroom in miso broth, the uni and the chefs sampler. They fill up extremely quickly but you can generally find a spot at the bar. Reservations are highly recommended. Parking is EXTREMELY LIMITED AND DIFFICULT. If possible use public transport or cabs. If you liked my review please give me a thumbs up 👍🏾 to let me know! Amazing food same day delivery fresh caught fish. Tasty and always a treat to sit at the sushi bar and watch it being made. Had a spil accident and the staff and Susi Chef's were all attentive yet subtle in their reactions to my mess. Very peaceful enjoyable quick, caring service. Great atmosphere. A little Stark and white w/ an overall organized feel. But peaceful overall. very proficient atmosphere I guess is the best way to describe it. From my experience very Authentic Japanese. Also inside dining with a small quaint sushi bar, and patio dining area as well. Also The Sushi Chef's try not to cringe when us Americans drown their exquisite food creations in large amounts of wasabi and soy sauce, and an abundance of ginger. Hahaha!!! Highly recommended ✅

It’s busy, and you should bring a sweater if you’re up for sitting outside. They have heaters amply throughout the seating area but the cool California nights can still be chilly. The food is delicious always. It’s consistently amazing. My top sushi roll recommendations: Lemon roll, Lome roll, and Yuzu roll. Honestly though there’s not a bad sushi roll on this menu. The food is delicious. It’s a sister restaurant of Sushi Yuzu and it’s open Monday nights. Bring your friends and taste this gem of a restaurant.

AVOID THIS PLACE. DO NOT EAT HERE. FOOD POISONING WARNING!!!!

THIS IS FOR YUZU, BUT KABOSU IS THE SAME OWNER AND THEY USE THE SAME STAFF BETWEEN PLACES. FISH WILL BE THE SAME AT BOTH SPOTS.

This place used to be my favorite and sadly this is no longer the case. I came in on a Friday and was shocked how empty the place was and the fact we were able to be seated right away at 8:30 PM. If you know this place you know that’s not possible. After being seated, it took 20 minutes for my self and my parents to place an order. The fish started to arrive and my mom doesn’t eat sushi, she likes 1 fish and orders the same sashimi dish every single time because it’s the only one she can handle/likes. So our sashimi comes out and it tasted off. My mom immediately said no thank you after 2 bites. My dad and I continued to eat and said yes the flavor is off but surely it’s the fruit not the fish. Grapefruit is bitter. Shrugged it off. We continue our meal and at the end the server asks if we need anything else and I remind her that we were missing items and she completely forgot so she was rushing to put them in. When the food comes out she spills sauce all over me and all over the floor. She was frazzled , but very little remorse. Should’ve been my first warning sign. Fast forward to 1:45 AM. I wake with a stabbing, shooting pain in my what feels like exploding stomach. I proceed to vomit for the next 1 hour. I had to go wake my parents and tell them I was sick. We called our doctors emergency line and he said that it was food poisoning and to basically let it ride out for the next few hours and if I still have problems the next day to come in for dehydration and an anti nausea shot. I luckily took activated charcoal and it absorbed all the bacteria and I was able to go back to sleep after being deathly ill for two hours straight. My mom ended up sick a few hours later and my dad ended up sick the next AM. We were all down for the count. I had the worst, but my mom had 2 bites and still got food poisoning. It was clearly BAD FISH! When we called to report it to YUZU, they took a message and said they’d call us back. I had to chase down a manager after waiting all Saturday for a call back, finically called back Sunday at 5:40 PM and was left speechless. The manager had no remorse. Said since we consumed the food they can’t do a refund. Didn’t want to acknowledge the fact that my whole family was sick. Said that since I didn’t actually go into the doctor can’t prove that it was the fish.. except doesnt realize how food poisoning works. And the cherry on top was being told in a very rude way that my “white stomach” most likely couldn’t handle sashimi as it is a raw fish and I’m probably not used to eating it. Sir, I’ve been eating raw fish since I was 5 and have never experienced anything like this. My grandfather is Japanese and my ethnicity has nothing to do with YUZU fish giving my family and I food poisoning. The lack of respect as a customer was baffling and the lack of compassion or remorse leaves a bad taste in your mouth (no pun intended). I had to hang up the phone with no resolution because they said they weren’t going to do anything and couldn’t care less. Such a disappointment....

I was really looking forward to trying Kabosu, but unfortunately, the service was a huge letdown. We ordered soup and sushi, but they brought out the sushi first, and we had to wait quite a while for the soup. On top of that, we had to ask couple of times for ginger and soy sauce to the table. No one checked on us during the meal, and when we left our cards to pay, it took way too long to get them back.

Because of the poor service, we left a 10% tip instead of 18%, which we felt was fair. But as we were leaving, one of the servers (a skinny guy with glasses) actually ran after us outside the restaurant and stopped us demanding to know why we didn’t tip more. We explained that it was because of the service, but he kept pushing and even told us to change the tip.

Honestly, I was shocked. A tip is based on service, not an obligation. Chasing down customers over a tip is not just unprofessional it’s downright embarrassing. This was such an uncomfortable experience, and I definitely won’t be...
