Brentwood Country Mart — Local services in Los Angeles

While the charm of this farmhouse village oasis is exquisite, most of the employees I encountered were pretentious and unhelpful. Sure, understandably a lot of these shops have a higher price tag, but it’s as if you could smell “they’re not from this part of town” on my fiancé and I. Not once was I approached or asked if I could be helped in these stores (expect for Doen). On many occasion it was a hunt to guess who an employee was and had to uncomfortably ask, “Do you work here?”, while often interrupting whispering side conversations with other employees while I am right in front of them. I approached one woman for a question after I saw a customer handed her back a pair of shoes, and she proceeded to try them on herself while on the clock, rather than engaging with myself or other patrons. The energy at Goop was especially negative. All in all my experience at the Country Mart left me soured, sad, and with a lot of anxiety as I felt these businesses lacked compassion, customer support, or sheer respect for potential clients. I work hard. Yeah, I don’t have a Porsche or walk around with a Louis Vuitton handbag, but I deserve to be equally respected in these establishments. Brilliantly quaint in the only way Brentwood locals can and do appreciate: regularly. A rare mixture of small boutique versions of fave retailers and eateries. Here are my favorites: Enjoy a scrumptious snack or breakfast, produce and bakery at Farmshop. Café Luxxe baristas pull cafe beverages to enjoy in their sweet patio space or to go. Frida Taqueria is great for the empty nesters, after school, and bugaboo set. Laboutin and James Perse, are rarely worn together, but live well together here. HK cosmetics is a sweet skin care and fragrance shop that carries Byredo parfums, and the exclusive and lovely Tula probiotic skin care line that you can't try on anywhere else but here before purchasing; otherwise this new little miracle product is otherwise only available online. Completely meh. Nothing here worth looking around for parking. There truly isn’t much here. I wanted to see what Goop had. I was surprised at how disjointed the merchandising was. I did like some of the clothes and the Goop creams, but they were very busy and no one acknowledged my existence— even though I was sampling away— so I left— there was nothing so special that was worth waiting around for. The country food store place/restaurant had some nice jams and condiments— that had NO prices on them !!! I know they were going to be steep — but I want to know the damage before I get to the counter !!
