I adopted a rescue dog last year that had a very bad start in life. She is a pit bull mix and may have been used as a bait dog for dog fights. At the same time I took a job where I work at home but occasionally have to travel. I also was looking for a good daycare where Jade could play and socialize.
I found Canine Retreat. I made an appointment for Jade to be evaluated by their on site dog trainer. She spent half a day there with the trainer. I stayed and watched for about 30 minutes before I left. Jade is a very shy, very non-trusting little girl. She was scared and shaking when I turned her over. The trainer was VERY patient and very gentle with her. He worked with her for about 20minites before he started ringing other dogs into the area. Again Jade was scared and nervous. As soon as I saw she was relaxing a bit I left her for half a day. When I came back the report was positive and Kade ended up having a good experience.
I drop Jade off about once or twice a day just for fun daycare. When we are on our way to drop her off, she is crying and singing in the car because she is SO excited to go to daycare. When she jumps out of the car, she pulls me to get in and is always happy to see the Canine Retreat employee that greets us at the door. I can log into the WebCam and see what she is doing while I am working. When I pick her up, I usually get some sort of report on who she played with, what her mood was like etc....
There was one day I dropped Jade off and while I was watching her in the WebCam she got nipped by one of the other dogs while they were playing. I saw the Canine Retreat employee escort Jade out and about 5-10 minutes later she was brought back in. When I picked her up that evening, the employee at the front desk looked at Jades end of the day report and immediately told me about the incident and how they handled it.
Even when I board her for work or vacation, they do an excellent job with Jade. Just like every other dog owner. Our family would be devastated if anything ever happens to our dog. I never worry about Jade when I drop her off for daycare or board her for long term stay. She is always happy to see us when we pick her up and she is always exhausted and goes right to sleep when she gets home.
I love Canine Retreat!!! I recommend them to any dog owner. I hired a trainer that was recommended to me from another dog owner at the dog park and even he works with Canine Retreat. The facility is clean, the employees seem to really care about the dogs and are always kind and welcoming with me. Even during the Christmas holiday, they put up a tree and were accepting donations for the local pet shelters.
There aren’t enough words to describe how amazing...
Read moreIt's so hard leaving your babies, let alone all day. So, finding a daycare that really puts the needs of your dog first has to be priority when choosing a daycare. Especially when it comes to your dogs routine and health.
Canine Retreat does not seem to put the individual needs of your dog first.
My babies were in their care yesterday for almost 12 hours! when I dropped them off I was rudly told by the older heavy set brunette in the front that I should have read the lunch and dinner information in the packet I was given on trial day.
I brought dinner since my dogs were going to be in their care for almost 12 hours. She told me dinner was ONLY for Boarders. I asked if I could come by to feed my dogs dinner and was told no and then she had the audacity to tell me " your dogs will be fine. Most dogs don't even eat luch and since you're packing a luch they will be fine." ....
It was clear that she did not care about my dogs health or their routine... Not to mention, my dogs didn't have a full lunch packed they only had a lite snack and would be going almost 14 hours between meals. AND I was still charged $8 for them to give my dogs their lunch snack.
The cost is outrageous for daycare plus we have never been to a daycare where they charge you to give your dog a lunch that you packed. There are so many other daycares that give dogs rest breaks and the meal times are included in daycare price.
It was horrible that instead of me feeling happy and worry free that my babies were in good hands while I was away, I was anxious not knowing how they were and worried because they had gone so long without a meal.
To top it off, they advertise cameras, and they do not have this set up at the moment;so I was also unable to view my dogs.
lastly, upon pick up I would like to know how they did, especially since it was their first day, and I'm unsure why I have to ask how they did.
I am very displeased with the service I received, and I will definitely not be bringing my...
Read moreI love this daycare! My puppy does too! She has a blast all day and comes home with all her energy let out which is just what she needs! I had tried numerous daycares before finding Canine Retreat. It was an exhausting and stressful experience! My puppy had come home with injuries from other daycares, and although I understand some nicks and cuts will happen, the injuries she sustained were just way out of the norm. I was starting to lose hope until I found Canine Retreat! The orientation process was a breath of fresh air compared to others. I was explained every step of the process, I got to watch the socialization test as it happened, and even got to watch my puppy be introduced to the pack. I was allowed to watch for as long as I wanted that first day! Even now, if I want to get a sneak peek they allow me into the room to watch the pack. This place truly is top of the line. The owners are veterinarians so they know exactly what these dogs need to be happy and healthy. It is an indoor facility which is just what my puppy needed due to the previous road rash injuries she kept getting at other places, and they have cameras - not hiding anything from pet owners, separate runs, and small and large dog areas. They have 24/7 monitoring at all times! Flexible in week, weekend, and holiday hours! The staff knows my pup extremely well, and they know me by name. I feel like part of the family with them and I know my pup is in great hands. Even when we found out about my pup’s allergies they made note of it and made sure that all staff were aware in order to look out for her when she is there. I cannot rave about this place enough!! Give them a try because your dog will love you for it!
