BEWARE YOU WILL REGRET YOU EVER WALKED THROUGH THEIR DOOR! After reading this you will be amazed. I went in for a $5 watch battery and a simple drop of oil on one pocket watch and a crystal on another. All three watches were very expensive, in the multiple thousands. I was told they do no watch work, it all gets sent out, but they could put a battery in the wristwatch. They did. I left the two pocket watches. I returned about an hour later the wrist watch did not work. It was looked at and determined not the battery, something else was wrong it also must be sent to wherever they send their stuff. After two weeks I get a call $200 for a burned circuit be ready in two more weeks. Call comes to get my watches. I go to pick them up. The old woman that handles the transactions brings out a bag with a blue ring and says here you go Gary. Not my name not my ring. When they figure it out, I have wasted a trip. Another week passes. Call to get my watches comes in. This time the correct jewelry comes out of the bag but I notice the pocket watches are unfixed and the wristwatch has deep scratches on the case. They neglected to send the pocket watches, and I have to demand the wrist watch be fixed. I take back the one pocket watch that needs oil and service since it didn't go, now I'm becoming leary, the woman says that even for a crystal the other pocket watch must be sent out but Denny intervenes and says he has a crystal there and it will be done by the time the other is fixed. So off I go again. Time passes and I call for an update, I'm told that "they" keep sending the wrong crystal another is coming next week. This is contrary to what I was told that he had one. More weeks pass. I get a call. When I arrive the crystal was fixed and I pay, but now the wristwatch has a broken clasp. I have to demand it be fixed and it is agreed it was working originally, although, they tried to claim it wasn't. That did not hold water. Remember this is a $4,300 watch. I wore in the first day. Meanwhile, there is another old man sitting at the end of the counter that on a couple of visits has shown me coins and casino chips, one in particular he claims is so rare none are on the internet and the last one known sold for $250 and he will sell this one for a steal at $75. Now this is my fault, I believed him and bought it. I should have checked before instead of when I got home. But, why not believe him they have three of my multi thousand dollar watches. I know I'm stupid. I get home and check E-Bay, five available from $48 to $69. Two weeks go by and no call, so I call them, Whats up with my watch? WE called YOU. Really, when, did you leave a message or call back? No. Fine I'll be right in. When I arrive I can see why there was no REAL call nothing has been done to the clasp, it is still broken. I am getting it fixed at the high end dealer on the west side where it was purchased and will sue them for the repairs. Additionally, Movado claims a burnt circuit in their top of the line model is highly unlikely and it was probably damaged by an inexperienced jeweler trying to install a battery. Sound familiar! So, a $5 battery got a $200 circuit damaged, scratched case, a broken clasp and suckered on a casino chip. When I said to Denny I was reluctant to satisfy the bill, before I could finish the sentence he called me a lowlife and became insulting. No apology for what happened, no sorry for keeping my watch for months, no sorry for wasted trips because the old lady can't keep inventory and telephone calls in order, no apology for the misrepresented chip, just your a lowlife if you don't pay me. Denny Lesser Jewelry is unskilled, incompetent, and dishonest. When I was interrupted to be called a low life I was about to suggest a discount that was equitable to us both, but now he can pay for everything. Oh, by the way I was a first time customer and new home owner in the area. Next time they treat a new customer this way maybe it will be an undercover Devonshire Division Detective. See ya in...
Read moreCame in with 59.1 grams of gold to sell , Guy who works only Wednesdays and saturdays says; I will be up front the entire process, don't worry. He tests almost everything I had with exception of a gold crown, which later in the day he said he didn't test because of some mixed metal on underside of gold crown. He weighs everything 2 pieces were 10kt. Gold the others were 14kt. 2 pieces were gold filled or sterling. He weighs the gold and claims its worth 1026or 1126. (Can't remember anyway that sounds good. And he paid me. I left and began to wonder why so low a return. I called the man and asked him how much the gold weighed. He stated 36.7. I said that's not right. Told him my weight on scale was at 59.1 gram almost 2 ounces. He says no , I can't go by grams because it's TROY GRAMS. WHAT THE HELL DOES THAT MEAN. He double talked about how it's different that regular grams. I proceeded to go back to Danny Lessers jewelry store and asked to speak to the Wednesday , Saturday guy. It took a few minutes and then I asked him if he could weigh the gold again. He proceeded to go into back room while grabbing maybe 6 parcels of the days take of gold and was busy back there for 5 minutes. He came back with a yellow envelope he says was mine and spread it out in front of me only to see things that were missing from my original parcel and things I never brought in, it left me to believe he was switching out my gold envelope contents with others to achieve the 36.7 grams he claims was the weight. We both watched him weigh the gold and he couldn't come up with the exact same weight as he specifically said was in it. More double talk about alloys and some items were 13kt 11kt. It was evident that he was trying to make the numbers match. . He was a dishonest man. And the dept of Weights and Measures are going to check this guy out. I would never ever recommend this place for any trades of...
Read moreI have been going to Denny Lesser Jewelry store for over 15 years. I love his work and gift of design and repairs. BUT, the women that works there is so rude and cold. Every time I walk in I do not receive the same service and warmth that I get from Denny or his other staff. Yesterday I walked in to check on a simple repair of my mother's ring and two bracelets. I took them in on November 29th, thinking I would get them back within a couple of weeks. When this female employee checked on them she said because of the holidays they weren't finished and that she will call me when they are finished. She also made me feel like it was my fault because I should have told them I wanted them before the holidays. I asked her again if it was possible to get them in a few days and all she said in a rude tone is that she would call me. There was also another employee sitting at the counter watching a video on his tablet and there were no other customers in the store at that moment. When I was there in November there were two other customers also complaining to Denny about this same women, He apologized to them and said he would talk to her again. As we walked out together, I shared with these two women my past experiences with this employee and thanked them for telling Denny. When I receive compliments about my jewelry I always recommend Denny, but warn them about this female employee and how rude she is. It is sad that he has to keep her because he is possibly losing customers because of her lack of customer service and negative communication skills. I am not sure yet what I am going to do yet but I know for sure when I see this women working there I will come back at another time or go...
