This is a live upscale venue and restaurant offering entertainment nights. The highlights here for me, are the karaoke nights which I believe are on Mondays or Tuesdays. They have bar seating if you’re not with a big crowd. The Dj’s sound quality wasn’t very on point to my standard because I had to work a little too hard to express my vocal abilities, but at the end of the day, I had a fun karaoke night. It’s a really nice set up and it draws in a big crowd. They have a variety of food options. The servers/bartenders are customer friendly.
I did have one experience with a bartender employed here when I was at another similar venue due to a mutual acquaintance who we both knew as a customer at the District. She took it upon herself to invite herself & come along with him after she heard him invite me. My experience with your bartender at the other venue while she was still a District GS employee was very off putting, catty, unwarranted, and a bad representation of the District although she was off duty. The energy was just low vibrational and felt uneasy when all I wanted to do was sing & have the support my acquaintance without the unnecessary drama she brought. I behaved cordially towards her. I certainly don’t want to be served by her at District anymore & hopefully she’s not even there whenever I do happen to return for a visit. I perceived that she got too personal with a customer & showed aggression towards me out of her own personal insecurities because I clearly was not competing for her tipper’s attention at this other venue we were all at. We were not even together because I didn’t feel comfortable in her presence. She seemed very possessive of him, her regular district customer. If she needs to go out with her regular District customers outside of work to keep getting tipped, that’s her problem, not mine. I even tipped her well when she was bartending at District because she did such a stellar job & recommended the perfect drink for me. It was just unfortunate how she behaved towards me outside of work all because she had a crush or maybe even personal relationship with her District customer who happened to be a mutual acquaintance. When bartenders become infatuated and or unprofessional with customers, it’s bad on the company who may be complicit & negatively impacts customer to business relations. unethical practices/behavior shouldn’t be condoned be management. It should be identified, investigated, addressed, & prohibited.
I’m sure many customers actually aggressively pursue/initiate personal relationships with bartenders. I understand the chase game. At the end of the day, it falls on the bartenders to be professional on duty & neutral/cordial to your District customers off duty, or risk losing potentially regular customers. It’s really imperative that the company/management upholds high ethical standards, practices, & behaviors amongst employees, customers, even within the organization among managers & employees. Throughout the entire organization period.
Management should be proactively involved in upholding employee ethical standards/behavior because sometimes it’s obvious, but many times it’s not. Employees may be sneaking around dating their regular customers, possibly for unethical reasons/purposes. Both bartenders & customers can be placed in a vulnerable position/situation at your establishment and management should take the necessary actions once these vulnerabilities become evident, exposed, or somehow brought to light.
This is an honest review/feedback of my real life experience at the District GS, Crenshaw. Hopefully this gets someone’s attention and sheds light on employee/customer engagement & relationships.
I was nervous about singing in front of my hometown community at first. But I managed to pull myself up by both bootstraps & together for the sake of using my talents, sharing my voice, the gift that I have to my very own community. Thank you for having me.

Read moreReservation for Sat., July 24, 2021 @ 10am. No greeter at the door. Waited far too long to be acknowledged/seated. At least the greeter was pleasant. Only 2 tables were occupied. We thought we'd get excellent service because they weren't busy. WRONG!!!
WE were seated 3 tables over from one of the other parties that was already seated. Ten minutes go by and no one has come to our table to offer us water, drinks, or even acknowledge that we're there. Meanwhile, another party has arrived and is seated two tables over from us. A waitress comes over immediately to greet them, serve them water, and take their drink order.
I wonder if this waitress is the same waitress that should be helping us. I have to get up to go ask the woman who seated us. She replies no, that waitress isn't waiting our table; but she'll let someone know we're still waiting.
I go back to our table and we wait some more. Meanwhile, the party that was seated after us is first served their drink order, then their appetizer, before our waitress ever comes to our table. She's pleasant when she finally arrived, but there's no acknowledgment or apology about our wait (over 15 minutes at this point).
The waitress says she doesn't know if they have coffee. Say wha??? It's 10AM! Why wouldn't you have, or know if you have, COFFEE FOR BREAKFAST?! Turns out they DID have coffee (go figure). Good thing too, because it was honestly the best thing about our experience. There was nothing special about it -- it's just that EVERYTHING ELSE was so RIDICULOUS!
My husband ordered a Shrimp Omolette. It was $21. Kinda pricey, but we didn't trip off of that (at least not until after he got it), even though at that price we were a bit put off by the fact that it didn't come with anything else, not even toast. We had to pay $2 to add toast, and $5 to add potatoes. Ok, no problem. We did that.
THE PROBLEM with the Shrimp Omolette was THE SHRIMP - which was served with TAIL ON! THA HELL?! We dine out frequently and are happy to pay and tip well for good food and good service. Never have we ever been served a shrimp omolette with the tail on!!! Not just the tail on one shrimp (as in oops, maybe they overlooked that one). NO!!! TAIL ON ALL THE SHRIMP, as in, THIS is how they prepare and serve that thang!
MY GOD!!! How disappointing!!! This represents poor quality, poor service, and pure laziness. While my husband says it was tasty, to have to remove shrimp tails from an omolette that one should be able to freely eat was insulting. We have had many a shrimp omolette, some even less costly than this one, but NEVERRRRR with the tail on! That's like eating a shrimp burrito, shrimp taco, or shrimp enchilada with the tail on! Who does that?!?!?! THE DISTRICT DOES!!! FOUL BALL!!!!
I ordered the Red Velvet Waffle plus Eggs, Potatoes, & Bacon. My husband and I received our orders at the same time (naturally). MINE WAS COLD! I can't even call it lukewarm. I took a bite of each item and promptly sent it back. While everything tasted good (especially the waffle), it definitely could not be eaten at that temperature. The waitress graciously took it back and returned with freshly cooked and hot food.
THIS TIME the Red Velvet Waffle had a distinct tartness/tanginess to it that wasn't in the first waffle I tasted. There was a drizzle of cream on the waffle, but it wasn't the cream that was tangy (I got a taste of the cream with the cold waffle before I sent it back). There was something in the batter itself that wasn't there before. I tried to accept it but I just couldnt. It wasn't a slight tang but was very pronounced. Totally ruined the Red Velvet experience. Red Velvet does not have a TWANG to it.
So I sent that back too, along with the accompanying items. I wasn't gonna eat the rest of it without the waffle. My breakfast experience was ruined so I only drank the coffee.
AWFUL!!! We...
Read moreThis experience was awful! Some friends and I went here for a little get together, but they made it absolutely impossible to enjoy the experience. The problems started at the door. We wanted to enter in with our hats on, but security at the door told us we had to take them off. No problem I suppose, until when we actually walked in and people had their sports caps on. We were upset, but we decided to let it go, in hopes they would make it up on the backend. Unfortunately, that was not the case. Once our group was sat, someone brought us water. The person never introduced themselves nor did they give us any assurance that a waiter/waitress would be with us soon. We waited 15 minutes before we were finally tended to. We all placed our orders and then didnt hear from our waitress for another 20 minutes. Personally, I ordered a Knob Creek Old fashioned, a chicken Caesar salad, and their Mac n cheese. All of it was absolutely disgusting. Starting with my old fashioned, it tasted more like a sugary juice box for children than it did alcohol. The chicken for my Caesar salad was dry and cold. The lettuce had definitely seen better days. And the Mac n cheese was awful. The only thing hot on it was the melted cheese on top. Once you got to the shells themselves, they felt overcooked and mushy. Finally, we attempted to grab the bill so we could just leave. When I asked our waitress, she essentially waived us off and walked away. It wasn't until I asked her again 15 minutes later for the bill, that she finally brought it over so we could pay and get out of there. This whole experience was absolutely atrocious. As an African American making an effort to support black owned businesses, visiting establishments like this and being treated to the an experience as such make it hard for me to want to continue supporting our people. If it were possible, I would give this place a 0/5, but seeing that I have to give at least one star to complete this google review, you get 1 pity star. Terrible place, would not...
