Mixed Experience with Delivery and Product Issues
I purchased a king headboard with nightstands and a credenza from Hotel Surplus Outlet. The headboard set is fantastic—exactly what I was hoping for, solid quality and looks great in my space. However, the experience with the credenza was less than ideal. They initially delivered the wrong piece, though they were very pleasant on the phone and assured me that the correct credenza, with the small refrigerator and safe, would arrive in a couple of days. While the replacement did arrive, it looked vastly different in color compared to what I saw in the warehouse. They told me it was due to lighting, but I moved it to different spots in my home and the color still looked off. Additionally, the doors didn’t align the same way as in the showroom photo I took, so I know it was not the exact piece.
Unfortunately, the delivery process caused some damage, my floors were scratched, and I found plastic nail-on glides that had fallen off the furniture in my driveway. They would have protected my floors had they were on the credenza. In addition the side of the credenza was also banged up, with chips of laminate left behind. I tried contacting them again and asked for an email to send photos, but never received a response. To top it off, the refrigerator included in the credenza never worked. It lit up when plugged in, but never cooled. Given the lack of follow-up on my earlier issue, I didn’t bother calling again.
Overall, the people were nice, and part of my order was great—but the delivery damage, lack of communication, and faulty appliance bring this...
Read moreI decided to go visit this location today after viewing a few items I wanted to purchase. I put my list together hopped in my SUV and started my drive from Corona. I had a pleasant drive there it was raining out not a lot of traffic just pleasant. When I arrived at the location I was greeted by two ladies sitting at the front desk. They said good morning let us know if you need any help, I said okay and started my way to the second half of the building where all the furniture is situated. I pulled out my list with much anticipation of excitement. As I started to walk around my mood started to change, the items that I was looking to purchase was not on the floor. So I saw two gentlemen working and I went to go ask the question of do you have this in the back. They immediately directed me to the ladies in the front to answer my questions. I started my way to the front list in hand and also the website open. I approached the ladies and started to ask if the items I wanted were in stock. Well as you can imagine each one I asked about was not in stock or just recently sold. At this point I started to get that used car salesmen vibe. How they advertised a car at a reasonable price to get you in the door only to say yeah we just sold that one. I asked when do they update their website and she said honestly they don't, you should probably call first. NICE! And for the folks who will say they sale furniture pretty quickly, it's also pretty easy to update the site to help consumers have a...
Read moreWow - I wish I had known this place any earlier. For my wife's birthday party, I bought extra champagne glasses - I just hate plastic. As we had 20+ guests, .... I believe I spent $5 per glass.
Then, someone told me to check out this places - and got Schott Zwiesel glasses for $1 - as they were on sale. I was stunned.
This place sells, as the name says, surplus stuff from premium hotels - Beverly Hilton, SLS, Four Seasons - the works. Some is worn, some feels brand new. We went for the Philip Starck chaise longue - a custom design I would expect to sell in the high $$$$ range - for less than $500.
You gotta check out the place again and again, as they get stock every day. And please: dot not expect an upscale designed place: it's somewhat the nature of their business to be an upscale flee market with high design products of insanely...
