I recently had an incredibly frustrating experience with Just Like Home Furniture (Just Like Home Affordable Furniture) in Tarzana, a small furniture business that left me regretting my decision to shop there. From the beginning I was under the impression this was going to be a seamless transaction; however, the entire process was riddled with poor communication and a complete lack of professionalism. Firstly, there was no transparency about the delivery, assembly, and installation process. When my furniture arrived, I was blindsided by the delivery person demanding cash for delivery when I thought it had been included with the total price I was quoted. This unexpected charge was never disclosed to me beforehand. To make matters worse, the delivery person dropped off the furniture still in boxes in my living room and left immediately after I paid him. There was no assistance with assembly or installation, leaving me to deal with it all on my own. Attempting to resolve these issues, I reached out to Todd, the owner, immediately who shockingly pretended not to recognize me. Despite having been in his office less than a week prior to delivery, he responds with, "I don't know who you are and what you ordered. I have a lot of customers." This dismissive attitude was extremely disappointing, especially considering our prior interactions over text and phone. He offered no help to resolve these issues and insisted we discussed this when we closed the deal yet he failed to remember the deal was all done over text which I asked him to revisit as proof of no such conversation about assembly, delivery, receipt/proof of purchase, signed agreement, warranty, etc. Throughout the transaction, Todd was quick to close the deal and receive payment, but he never provided a receipt or proof of purchase as of today. The only proof I have now is my credit card charge and our texts for the transaction. Furthermore, throughout the transaction there was no mention of assembly, any potential malfunctions, warranty information, or after-sales support especially given these couches are electrical. This lack of documentation and transparency is alarming, and it leaves me with no recourse should any issues arise with the furniture. Overall, my experience with Just Like Home Furniture and Todd (owner) was deeply unsatisfactory. I expected a small business to offer personalized service and attention to detail, but instead, I encountered evasive and unprofessional behavior. I would caution potential buyers to seek other options where transparency, customer service, and accountability are prioritized. I want to emphasize that I'm not trying to exploit the business or obtain any free goods or services. My main goal here is to inform my community and help them learn from my experience. Although I don't anticipate any corrective measures from the furniture store regarding my situation, it's crucial for them to maintain transparency throughout the process and provide everything in writing to avoid future misunderstandings. Visited the showroom and ended up purchasing a brand new, beautiful and incredibly comfortable couch for a price much less than what I would have paid at Ashley Furniture! Todd helped me pull the trigger on this couch, and I’m so glad, because it’s perfect and didn’t rob my bank account. Todd was so easy to work with - he’s honest, professional, kind, and friendly. Found this place on accident while couch-shopping for a new apt. They don’t have much on-site, but Todd said just go to any Ashley store and try stuff out, then contact him and he’ll get it cheaper. And that’s exactly what he did. I asked a bunch of questions and he found a bunch of other great deals on other brands as well, stuff I wasn’t even finding during my own searches. I’m quite happy with my couch, despite the fear of not being able to return it.
