Beautiful intimate theater. Wood floors and paneling on the walls, archway framing center stage. If you look up, you will see a grand chandelier candelabra display and a carved star. I wish I knew more history about this venue- it's quite beautiful. I have been to this venue twice. First was standing only for Digable Planets and then for MNDSGN "Rare Pleasures" Album Release there were luckily a few small hightop tables and tall chairs to sit on on the sides. Outside of the actual venue, there is a lobby where the restrooms are located as well as a small bar and merch set-up. Inside the venue there is a large horseshoe bar and then an open space for dancing and/or standing. I got super lucky with this group of mean girls refusing to leave the restroom that someone took me and another girl waiting in line to the upstairs restroom where the controller room was and we were aloud to hang for a bit and watch the show from an awesome slightly aerial view!!! You can see the photos that I took from up there. Amazing experience that I will never forget. Big thank you to the person who was so...
Read moreI had a great time at this venue! The entrance is in an alley off 56th and there is a free-after-9pm parking lot across the street. The line to get in can take a little while, so give yourself enough time for that if you want to see a certain band. We didn't allot for that, so we missed all but one song of the opening act. Other than that, every staff member we interacted with was very friendly, from the employee checking vax cards, to the ticket booth attendants, and even the bartender. The venue itself was on the 2nd floor of the building and it has a distinct scent (like old building mixed with body odor). It was a little off-putting, but I was able to look passed that since there was lots of space for everyone and a great view from any point of the room. The sound was pretty good and overall ambiance was great. They have a small area for merch in a busy hallway, which made me a bit claustrophobic so I wasn't able to buy anything because I just needed out. I will definitely be back, I loved the friendliness of the staff and the ease...
Read moreHad two or three drinks, started feeling good. Here to see my favorite band, what can go wrong?! They cut me off on entrance because they thought I was drunk. I'm 215 pounds and was a gentleman, had only three drinks*, why the aggressive policy? I've driven to Cali for shows multiple times and have never caused trouble, I treat my time here like a dream come true. But this experience put a sour taste in my mouth. I think if they see a Yamaha hat with a flat brim they think you're a hick who is trying to cause trouble. My AZ friends tell me Cali is garbage and I argue with them. This place fits the garbage bill, though. The real shame is that it hurts my experience with my fave band. *Edit: Three drinks upstairs, a couple more sipping drinks downstairs. Had food too, no shots, and a native Angelino who is my best friend matched my pace 1-1. I outweigh him by 30 pounds and he didn't get cut off, but I did. With the flat brimmed hat and a death metal hoodie, I no doubt wasn't the clientele this precious little establishment...
