In a time when it's possible to click and pick an engagement ring to add to a virtual cart as readily as you might order new socks, we were hoping for an individualized, face-to-face experience in which we'd be able to visit a brick-and-mortar store to choose and design our family heirloom with a skilled artisan who would become our family jeweler for decades to come. In researching local L.A. jewelers, we came across Peter's rave reviews and impressive designs. He was quick to reply to my first email request for an appointment.

While I was 98% sure I wanted a particular size and color oval, I was feeling terribly indecisive about the overall design/setting. Peter was wonderfully upbeat and patient over the course of several weeks in which I'd say, "Yes, that's it!" and then decide, "Err, actually, not feeling that after all..." Finally, while looking over his Instagram, I had a bit of a lightbulb moment, realizing that a vintage-feeling micropave band, subtly pinched at the stone, with a hidden halo in micropave as well, in yellow gold, would be the perfect classic-meets-glamorous style I had been hoping for.

Peter ordered several incredible diamonds that met the specs and price point we were comfortable with, and my love and I were able to come in and choose The One together. All of them were beautiful, but the stone we went with is even more incredible (with a higher clarity rating) than we figured was in budget. From the first glimpse, we noticed it glimmered with so much warmth and radiance and sparkle that it FELT like it was meant to be our family heirloom, because its beauty so perfectly reflected how we feel about one another.

After we chose our diamond and finalized the design, my fiancé worked with Peter on the remaining steps. In April, while celebrating our anniversary, we got engaged on Miramar Beach in Montecito.

We are head over heels with the end result, which seems to attract perpetual compliments -- and often, full-scale heart-eyes-emoji rave-outs -- from anyone who even remotely appreciates jewelry!

Peter Norman is seriously the best. Where I live there are not many jewelry stores, so I knew I would have to go out of town to look for an engagement ring. I was doing a ton of research on where to buy an engagement ring in the LA area, when I stumbled across his name and saw he had a lot of great reviews so I decided to make a trip to his store, and let me just tell you, it was soooo worth the 3 hour drive! His jewelry is so gorgeous and is so classy and has the finest details. I knew when I walked in that this was my place. Peter was very patient and helpful with all my questions in person and via email. He brought in the most beautiful selection of diamonds to choose from. I knew I wanted a solitaire ring with a hidden halo and one of the reasons I was so sold was the craftsmanship and minimal looking prongs so it just looks like the diamond is floating on your finger. Peter made me a custom solitaire ring exactly how I wanted, and it’s seriously the most beautiful solitaire I’ve ever seen! Peter was so easy to work with, and being that I was from out of town, we did a lot of correspondence during the process via phone and email, and he always responded timely and was available to answer any questions. The ring took about 3 weeks to make, and he mailed it to me so I didn’t have to make a trip back down to LA. Peter’s prices are also very fair as you get wholesale price on the diamond and then just pay a little more for the setting.
