My recent dining experience at Baltaire Restaurant in Los Angeles was an extraordinary culinary adventure, offering an exquisite blend of upscale dining, impeccable service, and a sophisticated ambiance that made it a truly memorable evening with my family.
Upon arriving at Baltaire Restaurant, the grand and elegant exterior immediately set the tone for a luxurious dining experience. The restaurant's opulent decor, with its tasteful chandeliers, plush seating, and stylish bar area, created an upscale and inviting setting perfect for a special occasion.
The menu at Baltaire showcased a tempting array of delectable dishes, featuring premium steaks, fresh seafood, and other refined culinary delights. After much contemplation, our family decided to try their signature "Dry-Aged Ribeye Steak," their "Lobster Bisque," and their "Grilled Asparagus" as a side.
The Dry-Aged Ribeye Steak was an absolute masterpiece. Cooked to perfection, the tender and flavorful ribeye showcased the exquisite taste of dry-aged beef, which had been skillfully prepared to enhance its richness and depth of flavor. It was a true testament to the culinary expertise of the chefs at Baltaire.
The Lobster Bisque was a creamy and indulgent treat. The velvety bisque, brimming with succulent lobster meat and delicate flavors, provided a luxurious and satisfying start to the meal.
The Grilled Asparagus was a delightful accompaniment to the main course. The tender asparagus spears, lightly seasoned and grilled to perfection, offered a refreshing and healthy addition to the meal.
To complement our dishes, we received exceptional wine pairing suggestions from our waitress, Emily, whose knowledge and passion for wine truly elevated our dining experience. Her attentive and friendly service made us feel welcomed and well-cared-for throughout the evening.
The attentiveness of the entire staff at Baltaire was commendable, from the hostess who greeted us warmly upon arrival to the servers who ensured that every detail of our dining experience was flawless.

Read moreBaltaire is a neighborhood restaurant for me, so I've been maybe 25-30 times since it opened both for personal dinners and business, and this is the first time I've felt strongly enough to write a review. Unfortunately, it's not what it was, but this is where popular restaurants turn a profit – they build up a reputation and a clientele, and then nip and tuck at the menu and the quality, and it's starting to show a bit.
Ordered a couple of cocktails to start; both were noticeably weak. For the apps, the shrimp cocktail seems to have gone down a grade – definitely chewier than usual – and the tuna in the crispy rice seemed to be a lower grade as well.
Decided to stick with the seafood, and the scallops and the lobster risotto were both fine, but nothing spectacular. The quality of the scallops actually seemed to be quite good, but the recipes need help. Just grilled doesn't really do it and imparts a watery unappetizing brown liquid on the plate, and previous forms of the scallop (salsa verde, etc.) just overpowered the scallop. Maybe come up with a different lobster entree and make the scallops with a risotto.
We ordered a mac and cheese for our kid, which was to be her meal and was fine, but it was forgotten and didn't come until we were nearly done. (It was comped, which was appreciated and appropriate.)
We'd planned on dessert, but weren't really feeling it. Nevertheless, we ordered the pot de creme, as one person at the table eats gluten free and that was the only non-cake-like item on the menu other than the sorbets. It came covered in crumble, which was not mentioned on the menu, is not really a standard preparation of that dessert, and didn't add anything to it anyways. It also wasn't that smooth and is never optimal when you can feel the sugar on your tongue. The rest of the table shared that, and bugged out to Bacio di Latte down the street for desserts for others.
As to atmosphere, it also seems like they are kicking off the party atmosphere earlier now. You used to be able to come and have a relatively peaceful meal if you were out before 8pm or so, but now it feels like WeHo-lite in there from 5pm onwards.
3 stars across the board because I know they can still do a good steak (the problem for them is that so can many others in the area now), but maybe it's time to stock of things across the board with respect to service, menu, and prep if the intent is to maintain...
Read moreI recently dined at Baltaire and I must say that my experience was nothing short of distressing and painful. It is with great disappointment that I write this review, detailing the unfortunate incident that occurred, resulting in a permanent burn mark on my finger. I would strongly advise potential customers to exercise caution and reconsider visiting this establishment.
From the very beginning, the lack of attention to customer safety was apparent. As I eagerly awaited my meal, the restaurant staff brought the food to the table without providing any warning about the scorching hot plate. Without being informed about the plate's temperature, I unknowingly reached out to touch it, only to suffer a severe burn on my finger.
To make matters worse, the injury sustained during this incident has left me with a permanent burn mark that will not heal. This is a clear indication of the severity of the burn, and it is extremely distressing to know that my dining experience has resulted in a lifelong reminder of the negligence displayed by the staff at Baltaire.
While accidents can happen in any restaurant, it is the responsibility of the establishment and its staff to prioritize customer safety. In this case, the lack of warning about the hot plate was a serious oversight, and it has left me with physical and emotional trauma. The fact that the burn mark will not heal only adds to my frustration and disappointment.
Moreover, I would have expected the restaurant to take immediate action and show genuine concern for my well-being. Unfortunately, their response was lackluster at best. The staff showed no remorse for their failure to warn me about the dangerous plate, and their disregard for customer safety is both alarming and disheartening.
Based on my experience, I strongly advise against dining at Baltaire. The complete disregard for customer safety, coupled with the permanent injury I suffered, has left me deeply dissatisfied. I believe it is crucial for any restaurant to prioritize the well-being of its patrons, and Baltaire has failed miserably in this regard.
I hope this review serves as a warning to others considering dining here. It is crucial to prioritize your safety and be aware of the potential risks associated with dining at establishments that display...
