Rūts Dance Studio — Local services in Los Angeles

First time coming here. I would suggest getting there early to find parking. There is metered that's free after 6 or you can find neighborhood. It is K-town so make sure you don't leave anything in your car. The dance studio is on the corner. Immediately, my friend and I were greeted by a really nice girl with long hair. She was really personable and asked my friend if this was our/ her first time. The other guy next to her was checking me in.

Unfortunately, minus 1 star from his cold welcoming. Not sure if he was just letting her talk, but I always like to say hi and he said nothing. Barely was audible when he asked for my name. Kinda whack, guy, if you're reading this. This stuck out so prominently because everything else was so great which is sad because my takeaway other than the class was this.

Other than that, there's a waiting area with a few couches. I did like how we were all escorted as a group to the room. The intro the workers presented was super informative. They also come in at the end and make sure you know where to go, if you need water, and help expedite the next class. They also offer to walk you to your car if needed. To me, this was huge. What a nice service. Bianca, the instructor was so freaking cool. I love the way she taught. I felt at ease. I use dance as a cross train to martial arts so I loved letting go. She knew her stuff. Rūts introduced SO much joy into my life. I'm 28 and had never taken a dance class before, although I always loved watching the videos. I was super nervous to try out a class in person, but immediately those nerves went away on the first class. The atmosphere here is so energetic and supportive; people of all levels of dance come together to learn the same choreo or fundamentals and it feels genuinely social and FUN. I'm beyond happy that I pushed myself to take class, it changed my life. Now I've been coming 4-5 times a week for 3 months and I feel like I am a part of an actual strong community. The people you meet here are so kind and genuine and come from all walks of life. I've made a ton of lifelong friends here and am starting to even feel more confident to try out all the varieties of classes here and the quality of instructors is always top notch! Highly recommend this studio; you will receive high quality instruction and attention in whatever style of dance you're interested in, as well as meet regulars and friends to share the fun and make memories with. The dance class was fun and encouraging. However, when I had to change the class I was taking, they refused to give me a refund for previous class, while they claim the class is “free of charge” if you cancelled it before certain timeframe on their website. The money I paid turn into some kind of class credit, and there is limitation to the usage of class credit. They also doesn’t make it clear about the class credit mechanism on their website.
