I recently made a purchase and my experience there completely changed my opinion of Louisville Stoneware. I grew up with products from there and I still, to this day, cherish and use plates that were custom-made for me 20+ years ago. Those products were exceptional.
However, I recently bought custom plates as gifts for my own children, in hopes that they may look back decades later and recount memories of receiving and using those plates. One plate came back great, with only slight imperfections expected from a handmade product. The other plate, however, had multiple flaws, none of which are present in any of our other products nor in items displayed inside the store. After a long discussion with the manger, Shelly, we were still unable to resolve the issue. She claimed that since it is a handmade item, there will be imperfections. She even went on to say that people come into the store just to find items with flaws, as if that would somehow make everything okay. How can 9 plates be perfect and the 10th be totally different? What do I tell my child when she asks why her plate has holes and bubbles in it when her sister's is perfect? Does she not deserve the same quality?
It seems to me that Stoneware & Co. don't want to stand behind their products. And Shelly will 100% back the company, even if that means calling a customer "unable to be satisfied". She will not accept blame even if there was an error in their process of making the plate. What happened to customer service? It is difficult to trust any company these days because once they have your money, they usually don't care whether or not you are satisfied with your purchase. With bigger companies you can at least be connected to someone that will try to rectify a mistake, but at Stoneware & Co. Shelly is apparently all you get. So, if you have a complaint, you better hope she is having a good day.
The end result from this whole ordeal is that I have to pay additional money in order to have my plate remade so that my daughter may feel equal to her sister when she gets her present. Please be aware when making purchases for customized items there because you may have a similar experience. I have no issue with their other products that you can see before buying, because you don't have to settle for a flawed dish. Stoneware & Co is known for their great quality, and up until recent events, I have held a similar opinion....
Read moreI have never been so disrespected and ignored. I looked around the shop while the 2 other customers were being helped by 2 ladies behind the counter a 3rd lady appears looks me over from top to bottom then walks on never saying a word. When one if the other ladies was finished she looked at me and started thumbing through a book. So after a few minutes I approached the counter and stood there and stood there and stood there after about 3-4 minutes I said excuse me do you have. Without looking up the lady points to back room and said check back there. So I did. I come back up front stood there and stood there while the 2 employees chatted in between them selves and again Excuse Me. One in the ladies looked up at me and went back to what she was doing. The other one says to me if they didn't have it in the back they didn't have it anymore and I could not order them either. Which struck me funny because they had several almost what I wanted in the front room not the back room and I probably would have chosen it but I needed 60-80 of them and plenty of time if I needed to order them. But the didn't make them is what I was told. Really I'm not a vagrant. I wasn't stealing from you. I'm not even from here but I wanted your stoneware in my 3 restaurant's. As you already know I'm not buying LOUISVILLE STONEWARE. I have purchased my dinner ware somewhere else and half the price. My words of advice would be don't judge a book by its cover. There just might be a diamond...
Read moreI visited the local store while I was attending a conference here, this store locates in a remodeled commercial building. The bright atmosphere makes these potteries look better. Not many people when I was there, I got to explore their products. Many things are cool to see in person, and you get to pick the items too! These handmade potteries share the same color patterns; however, each paint/finish still slightly different than one another. No matter you use as a daily ware or gift as a souvenir, the bottom stamps and some designs symbolize the unique things about Louisville and this company itself.
Since I have limited time, I skipped the paint your own session and the factory tour. In the future, I would consider getting a personalized plate or some other items from here. Very cool store too if you like...
