I am writing you after a very infuriating visit to my local Atwood's in Lowell, Arkansas. I live 40 minutes from this store, so when my husband decided he wanted to buy a chainsaw we found one for a good price online at this Atwood's store. I called Atwood's at 4:49pm and spoke with George in power tools to make sure that this store had the brand and size that we wanted since it is a 40 minute drive and we would be passing a Lowe's and Home Depot on the way that we knew had what we needed. George places me on hold for a couple of minutes and comes back with a yes they have a husquvarna chain saw with a 20" bar for $339. Great, my husband and I load our 2 kids up and drive 40 minutes to Atwood's. When we get there we find there are husqavarnas with a 18" bar but not one single 20" bar in the store. We ask for assistance to make sure they aren't in the back. Who should show up to "help" us but George. We asked him where the saws were that we had called about, and he says "well I thought that was them there." Pointing to the husquvarna with the 18" bar. We explained that we had called and spoke to him an hour earlier to verify that they had the product we needed prior to driving 40 minutes and now we are here and find out that he didn't actually know what he was talking about. To which George responds with "well I hate that for you." And then proceeds to tell us we didn't really want that brand anyway we needed to buy this other brand because we can get it serviced right there in the store. Like I'm going to trust this idiot who doesn't even know what products he is selling and has 6 inches of butt crack hanging out of his pant work on ANYTHING that I own. I would not buy toilet paper from that store after my interaction with George. He was one of the most rude and ignorant humans I have ever met. Someone should probably do some in-serving with George on proper customer service and giving customers accurate...
Read moreMaybe I went in on a bad day, but I saw very little of the “great customer service “ so many have mentioned. No, I’m not one of those can’t be pleased customers either, I used to work retail. Anyone I asked for help, when I finally found someone, acted as though I was bothering them. There were numerous people waiting by the chics for help, they had asked several times before someone showed up. After I hopefully found everything I needed, I asked a young man if they had an empty cardboard box in the back I could put my chicks in when I got home till I got everything set up. His reply? “No, we bale them.” I told him I could see them in the back, he replied “ There’s probably something in them, besides, we Bale them.” Then walked off. Mind you I was spending quite a bit of money, not just asking for a random favor, he could see all the stuff in my cart. When I got to the front I asked the cashier who called back and had some bring an empty box right up. That’s just one example of the total unfriendliness I experienced. I’ll go to Tractor Supply for the rest...
Read moreFun store if you like kitschy decor and MFH items. Their livestock feed is pretty high priced comparatively and most bags are only aa40lbs, not 50. That is becoming the norm, but they were doing it several years ago too.
Their spring and fall live chick selection is pretty good, but the chick care is hit or miss, either great or disgusting. We have been in where they had mostly fresh bedding and ample clean food and water. We have also been in where the bedding was matted with feces, the feeders were dirty and empty and the waterers were gross. I think it really depends on the staff. My chick losses after purchase have definitely been higher from this store than from others.
Speaking of the staff, they are kind of hit and miss too. A few have been super friendly and helpful. Several have been sullen and fairly rude.
I will stick with Tractor Supply and the Co-op for my needs, as they are closer and more...
