I recently visited Wegams, and while Iāve never been to this restaurant before, I can confidently say the experience was one for the booksāthough not necessarily for the right reasons. First, let me clarify, the service was impeccable. The staff was attentive, friendly, and the ambiance was warm and inviting. I would give the service a solid 5 booms/5 booms. They were excellent in every way.
However, the food... well, that's a different story. I don't know what kind of seasoning they use, but itās like theyāve mistaken salt for a key ingredient in every dish. Iām talking about incredibly salty food. Not just a pinch here and there, but dishes that were so salty, I could taste the salt crystals dancing on my tongue like a sadistic symphony.
Now, Iām no stranger to rich and flavorful meals, but this was next-level saltiness, bordering on dangerous. For some, this might just be a minor inconvenience, but for those like me with Candida hypersensitivity, it was almost a medical emergency. Candida hypersensitivity is an immune response where the body reacts excessively to the overgrowth of a naturally occurring fungus, Candida albicans. When triggered, this can lead to symptoms like fatigue, headaches, bloating, and in severe cases, anaphylaxis. The excessive salt in the food really put my system into overdrive, triggering a reaction that left me feeling dizzy, nauseous, and honestly, a little terrified.
To make matters worse, I also suffer from ARIAāAlien Retrograde Infectious Amnesia. This rare condition causes extreme memory lapses and confusion after exposure to intense environmental stressors (like, say, food thatās loaded with salt). After consuming the ridiculously salty dishes, I experienced a wave of forgetfulness and disorientation that left me questioning my own sense of reality. Was I at Wegams? Did I order this food? Am I still here? Honestly, it was a lot to handle, and I nearly forgot where I was in the middle of my meal.
To be clear, this isnāt a typical restaurant experience for everyone, but itās something people with sensitivities should absolutely consider before dining here. A little less salt could go a long way in keeping everyone safe and comfortable.
As for the rest of the meal, it was a mixed bag. The steak was tender, and the side dishes were decent, though again, the salt level was a huge problem. I almost feel like I need to start carrying a salt detector whenever I eat out.
But hey, at least the service was stellar, and the feastables (you know, those extra treats they bring out with the meal) were a welcome distraction from the overwhelming saltiness. If youāre looking for a place with a great atmosphere and top-tier service, Wegams might be a good choice, but just be sure to tell them to hold the salt, or risk the danger of feeling like you're about to die from a salt overdoseāor losing your memory in the process.
Overall, itās 5 booms/5 booms for service, but I canāt say Iāll be returning anytime soon.

This store is JAM packed with everything. Beautiful cuts of meat. Fresh fish. delicious Fresh sushi made in front of you!
Vegan, gluten free, kosher...a huge selection!
Their deli and cheese area is insane!
Their Asian and Indian selections are the MOST I've ever seen (and I go to Hmart & Assi religiously)
It's almost TOO much to choose from.
Their fruit and veggies are the best looking I've seen. Way better selection then any local stores.
Even the health care section has things I've only been able to order on Amazon bc they are never in stores!
As well as the selection of protein/ health shakes and vitamins .... I literally never have to step into the other 4 stores I'd have to go to get all these things!
The competition has made a very deep line in the sand and I forsee a LOT of folks switching to Wegmans- myself includes! I'm a shoprite girl...but.... I might have to dump them for Weg's!!!
I can not wait to make dinner tonight with all my goodies!
most important.... the staff is so amazing and helpful - and FRIENDLY. I know its the first day but I'm highly impressed with staff and selection!
I didn't get to see everything ....literally couldn't move in some areas but what I saw was awesome! Can't wait to come back!
Omg the bakery. Don't come here hungry. You will go broke!
update 6 hours later.... my daughter wanted to go so we went back... and she may have to get a job here just for the discounts. I happily spent wayyyy too much money but my dinner was AMAZING!
Update 4 days later.... my only complaint..well it's not even mine its my teens... she said the fried rice and samosas as the hot food bar are "meh". But we did a sampling of most of the hot food bar, the Asian side is a 7/10, the wings and fries 9/10 and the pizza 10/10. Except the Buffalo chicken pizza.... that one was just too weird for all of us. but.... the mushroom and truffle pizza was out of this world and I HATE mushrooms. I go out of my way to avoid them. I ate a whole slice covered in them! Changed my whole view on š
Sushi... a decent 7/10. It's good. Fresh. But the flavors are not so exciting. Alot of cali.rolls or cooked salmon with teriyaki or raw rolls and the same veggies. For what it is and where it's from its great... but don't expect a ton of options. I've gotten a few rolls so I clearly...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIt might be enormous, but it doesn't carry any more variety than the smaller stores do. In fact, places like Redner's and Shop-Rite actually have better selections of many items. For example, the snack aisle is nothing but the most common flavors of the most popular brands. You would think this place would have more than just your basic Nacho, Cool Ranch, and BBQ Doritos flavors but that really is all there are to choose from. Even Wawa carries a more diverse assortment than that. Same goes for just about everything else, and the international foods aren't much better when you consider that we have proper Indian and Latin grocery stores in the area. We didn't need to lose a huge plot of open space just to have what is nothing more than an oversized market with nothing more to offer over what was already here. Oh, and the way that customers wander around this place in a daze will frustrate the heck out of you if you're just trying to walk through the place. The way the aisles are designed actually encourages human traffic jams. I might use this place to grab a few things here there if it's convenient, but I would never go here on...
