Dillard's — Local services in Lubbock

I wanted to share my experience from my makeup assessment today to work for Dillards, as I believe it’s important to address both the positive and the concerning aspects of what occurred.

I arrived on time and successfully passed my assessment on the first try. Initially, A wonderful managers named Alicia I believe kindly stepped in to assist me since the manager assigned to my assessment, Becca, was not present for almost 30 minutes. She was so kind and professional, explained the process, and answered my questions thoroughly.

When Becca eventually arrived, her first words toward me were disheartening and felt unprofessional. As she glared me up and down,..She immediately commented on my outfit, saying she “couldn’t shake off” why I came dressed the way I did. Repeated that three different times, I was wearing rustic boutique attire and I was dressed nice and casual and had never been informed come in and dress in Dillard’s attire or professional attire required for a quick assessment, especially since I am not yet employed there. Her tone and choice of words came across as judgmental and unnecessary and very unprofessional.

Later, after I shared that I have extensive experience with problem-solving and handling customer concerns, Becca stated, “Oh no, we’re a luxury store—we don’t deal with people like that here in our store.” However, online reviews of the store suggest otherwise, and being a manager with 30 years of experience, professionalism and customer care are crucial in any setting.

Additionally, during my visit, I observed several employees walking around on their phones, some not dressed particularly professionally, while Becca herself was wearing makeup that was not blended well with her skin tone. The irony of her criticizing my appearance while the store’s own standards seemed inconsistent was not lost on me.

Overall, what could have been a positive and professional experience was overshadowed by a comment that felt both inappropriate and unwelcoming. I hope this feedback can be used constructively to ensure future interactions reflect the professionalism expected of a luxury environment and the business...

The only reason I gave a two star review is because out of the three times I’ve been into the new store One person shoes, and one person in cosmetics asked if I needed any help. All the browsing I did especially for some time in women’s shoes. There was absolutely no offer for assistance if I wanted to try something on nothing. I don’t need to be hover over, but literally the last time there were 10 or 12 customers in the department one was trying on shoes but the rest of the people some two together others just one like me or walking all over and no one. Help asked if they wanted to try on shoes they were looking at and handling at all. There were three sales people there they were all hovering around the register two of them on their phones, not even acknowledging or realizing there were customers walking around and the other, who wasn’t 20 years old, literally Watched people walk by her made eye contact, and didn’t even say hello. I hadn’t been in Dillards for a long time because of the same bad service in both women’s and men’s shoes, women’s accessories like purses and sunglasses as well, but I did have someone ask and help me with a pair of glasses. But that should not be the exception. Once I came into the men’s shoes department, there was one customer being helped no one else in the department. The one salesman came out from the back his colleague both of them young was still in the back and the one out front in front of customers was talking to the one in the back and they were complaining about not getting hours. I was walking around holding shoes and I wanted to ask about for my husband and not once did either of them. Ask if I needed any help. I really wish I had to explain to them why they aren’t getting hours. I went to DSW and found plenty of shoes for both of us and guess what at DSW they actually ask if you’re finding stuff OK and if...

I went to the Women's Dillard's here in lubbock last night to look for some boots and I received terrible customer service in the shoe department. I don't know why I even gave them a chance considering an experience my husband and I had once where we were followed around by a security guard (as if we were going to steal something) while I was looking at purses. Nevertheless, I was out just running around last night and decided to just pop in Dillard's to try to find a good pair of boots. I don't know if it was because of how I was dressed (in was dressed down) or what bUT no one even attempted to help me or ask if I needed anything. At one point there was several employees standing together in the middle of the floor talking and laughing amongst themselves and I was looking a boot on a display table. A couple of them started eyeballing me as I looked but as soon as I put my hand on a boot and looked up in their direction they looked away and kept talking and laugoing between themselves. I put the boot down and left looked at one more boot just to make sure I was blowing things out of proportion and still no one came so I left. I tried to give this Dillard's another chance since the incidence with the security guard happened about about 2-3yrs ago, but I am sorry I did. I have learned my lesson and will not be making that mistake again. I have only had that experience at the Women's Dillard's here in lubbock, so if I need anything at Dillard's I will either wait until I have to go out town to a Dillard's with better service or...
