I cannot say enough good things about my experiences here! I’ll mention the customization process (that I also loved!) but the main reason for my review today is to mention the importance of the care plan.

My husband and I first came to Susan when we got engaged and she helped us design the perfect ring! We honestly just came in to look around and see what the process was like (this was our first stop in searching for a ring)….but during our private consultation, it was obvious that Susan was incredibly knowledgeable and had practically infinite options for how to customize the ring of my dreams. After looking at multiple options, I chose a very specific gemstone for my center stone and we discussed how this particular stone (tourmaline) is a good bit softer than a diamond and we discussed the stores care plan and why it would be a good investment. The Lifetime Care Plan covers resizing, stone replacement, and so much more! Know how I know? I took my ring in to Susan to get resized. When they were doing a full inspection of my ring, they saw surface abrasions that I had seen too (again, it’s a softer stone and I’m not the most graceful person) but when inspecting closer, they saw something I couldn’t. A fracture that went all the way through my stone! I believe I had a bent/loose prong on the ring too. Well, since the stone was cracked and the structure of it was compromised, they covered a replacement stone for me! Just a note: I chose a very specific color of blue/green tourmaline (see pictures) and it’s not the most common option. But they sourced a PERFECT replacement stone for me, fixed the prong, resized the ring - and it was ALL covered by the care plan!! This one event made the care plan MORE THAN worth it!! Oh, and did I mention? I actually don’t live in Lubbock anymore. I moved to Alaska. But Susan told me when we bought the ring and the care plan that the plan was good for my jewelry no matter where I lived. The only thing I had to pay was shipping to get my ring back! Which was very reasonable, I might say. I am beyond happy with my experiences at Royal Hummingbird. Susan is a true student of the arts - she is constantly learning and eager to know as much as she can about gemstones and jewelry and she is truly wonderful! I will trust no one else with my jewelry - I am a lifetime customer!

I recently inherited a diamond from my paternal grandmother via my mother. My parents have been divorced for quite some time and the stone had long since fallen out of her engagement ring. She thought I should have it.

I wanted to design a ring for the stone that was old-fashioned in memory of my grandma so I went to see Susan at Royal Hummingbird. I had it in my head I would design something simple to wear on my right hand.

The first thing I did was take a style quiz. It was fun and simple and told me I was "classic with a modern twist". From there it came up with hundreds of settings that fit that description and I scrolled through picking any that I found appealing. As I got rolling, it became clear I was designing an engagement ring, lol. Since I already have my own wedding ring, but it's white gold, I decided to make this into a gold one so I could switch as the mood strikes.

Once I had a good sampling of settings I liked, Susan began to take me through them individually so we could key in on what features I liked or didn't like. We were able to modify the setting by adding/removing details [I added millwork around the edges to make it look classic]. It was time-consuming, but it is clear that Susan is passionate about what she does and we had fun getting to the final design.

Once it was finalized, she had it cast in resin so that I could see it on my finger and make sure it fit okay.

I got the real deal today and it is everything I hoped for. It's the perfect memento of my grandma and nobody will ever have one like it. My ring may not be your style, but I assure you, they can accommodate whatever you're...

After 19 years of marriage my husband gifted me with an extra band for my wedding ring. I was extremely nervous to go into a jewelry store, shop for diamonds, and explain what I wanted. Susan and her staff at Royal Hummingbird were amazing, approachable, kind, never pressured me and made the process easy and transparent.

The original ring was a custom ring from a town four moves ago and had multiple unique rectangle designs on either side that I thought would be impossible to replicate. Susan and her staff used some super CAD and software scanning technology to create an exact duplicate that matched the two existing bands and the bars of all three matched up perfectly in the end. Throughout the process they sent me images and made sure the new diamonds would match in quality to the existing diamonds. The finished new band looks amazing and like it always went with the two others of the ring. Royal Hummingbird explained all the options, costs for gold, diamond costs, and made well informed recommendations.
