My daughter is 33 has been a diabetic since age 8, over the years of dealing with diabetes she has diabetic neuropathy, gastroparesis and has been on dialysis for bout a year now, her gastroparesis bothers her a lot off and on it gets very painful in her mid back and stomach it has been bothering her a lot off and on for the past month and a half, she has been to the E.R. 4 or 5 times now during this period, the first time they did blood work said it came back ok, gave her a narco ( which did not help) a few days went by still hurting I got her to go back to the E.R. again they did blood work said it came back ok ,gave her nothing and sent her home, after a couple more days it seem like she was gonna start feeling better, she ate supper and later that evening started hunting again and vomiting she dealt with that a couple more days hoping it would ease up and be ok but no, I had her go back to the E.R. again .this time they took blood work but did not send it to the lab, the doctor had them give her a shot of Demerol and Phenergan and sent her home, AFTER HE HAD THE NERVE TO TELL HER SHE WAS ADDICTED TO PAIN MEDICATION!!! Now mind you my daughter doesn't have prescription pain meds at home, she does not or never has took them for a long period of time actually the only time she has really taken pain medication is at the hospital or been given to her in the E.R. now mind you most of the time I HAVE TO GET HER TO GO TO THE E.R. TO GET SOME HELP OTHERWISE SHE WILL JUST TRY TO LAY DOWN AND TRY TO SLEEP THE BEST SHE CAN, SO TELL ME, DOES THIS SOUND LIKE A PERSON ADDICTED TO PAIN MEDICATION!! I DON'T THINK SO!!! AND THAT DOCTOR SHOULD BRING ASHAMED OF HIS SELF !!! After this she seem to get some good relief from the pain the rest of the night and most of the next day, then it started bothering her again she has dealt with it hurting bad for about a week so yesterday I told her to get her sister to take her back to the E.R. so she did , she was there till I go off at work at 6 o'clock p.m. called her and she told me they did not blood work just gave her some something they called some kind of cocktail that was supposed to numb her stomach ( which did not) and was getting her release papers ready to let her go, told her I was on my way, got there bout 25 minutes later walk into her room to find daughter laying on that bed crying and trying to rub her back to get some kind of relief !!! I told her to just come on , she said but mom I have to sign my release papers, bless her heart, I told her oh no you don't if they gonna treat you like this and just make a quick buck for doing nothing but treating people rude we ain't waiting no longer, I helped her get her coat on gather her stuff and left, ya need to get better doctors and p.a.'s in your E.R. ! I will take her to memorial hospital in Nacogdoches, I feel my daughter is owed a big...
Read moreThere are many issues I encountered. Went to ER with chest pain. I was told to sit and wait because there was another patient with chest pain ahead of me. I did not have to wait long before I was walked back into the ER for an EKG then walked back to waiting room to wait for triage nurse. A young lady walked me back to an ER room and did not offer a gown or give any instructions so we just stood there for a bit until a man came into the room. It seemed as though he did not know I was the patient since he inquired of the young lady if the patient was taken for a CT scan to which she said yes. I then told her I was the patient and was still there. She went and told the man. I believe he may have been the registrar. Soon after everything you would expect to happen began and I felt confidence in their care. I was never offered a gown so I “slept” all night (in the ER on a stretcher) in my clothes and shoes fully expecting to be taken to my room soon. I was told a couple of times there was a bed but then no, it was given to someone else. A man came in without introducing himself and spoke with the nurse (who was great, by the way) about the bed situation. After he left I asked who that was and was told it was the supervisor. I am an RN (former ADON) and know that is inappropriate to not introduce yourself to the patient. Several times through the evening I asked for food since I had not eaten for many hours. I kept being told that I could eat up until midnight. Finally approximately 11:45PM I was brought turkey roll processed lunchmeat with fake cheese on 2 pieces of white bread. Hardly appropriate for someone with chest pain/heart issues. I don’t even eat that at home. Everything went very well in the cath lab the next day. Received great care there. Had to wait a very long time for a bed which again I was told would be a cardiac bed…..and then it was given away. Finally I made it into just a regular room (where I had been told by a nurse there that they had flu and COVID patients) and since it was around 5:30-6 PM I asked for dinner. I was told it would be coming. I asked again at least 3 times when finally the last time the nurse told me the kitchen was closed and she would find something. Guess what she found?! A repeat of the processed turkey roll with fake cheese on white bread and a package with an Uncrustable in it!! It was disgusting! The next day I fortunately got to come home but one day later was diagnosed with pneumonia. Could it possibly have been brought into me from another patient? I was far more ill from the pneumonia than from my heart attack. I would first consider going to Woodland...
Read moreive been a nurse in the medical field 15 years and last night while in Lufkin I landed in the ER with a hematoma related to my ITP. My platelets had bottomed out resulting in a rapid bleed internally. There was 1 worker Fanny who is the face of negativity with a lack of compassion or empathy for others. she was hateful, rude, and didnt seem to care about anyone. while standing at the counter she loudly stated she wasn't seeing all these people and her limit was 5 (the waiting room was packed) She eventually called my name for triage and asked what was wrong so I showed her my swelling and tried to explain I have a clotting issue and can bleed out very quickly and been advised by my PCP and hematologist to get to an ER STAT and get it coban wrapped and ultrasound done and steroids to stop the bleed. her reply was oh, no I haven't heard of that and sit down. im not o e to say much, but her attitude is made to work in a prison, not with people who are scared or hurting. The triage nurse was amazing (red hair and glasses) and told me the NP would read the notes and get me back quickly bc its serious. after another hour I was called back after listening to Fanny degrade and belittle pretty much every patient and complain about having to take care of others. she made a few elderly patients tear up with her sarcasm and lack of concern for the well being of others. the 2 nurses, the lab guy, and the NP were amazing. They showed concern and compassion and a true love for what they do. I finally received my coban wrap to apply pressure and stop internal bleeding and a steroid iv to increase my platelets to help clot my blood. I told several workers how amazing they were, but all the good can easily be overshadowed by Fanny and give this place a bad name and reputation. Sadly they knew and agreed that she is hateful and often disgusts them with how she treats others. I cried the whole way home not for myself, but for all those who cannot speak up for themselves and advocate for their own care when faced with workers like Fanny. I am a nurse and clinical director for the nations largest Healthcare organization and we specialize is AL, SNF, IL, PT, Home Health, and more... and if a worker under my direction were to ever treat patients like Fanny did she would be gone period. she will continue to ruin what good...
