Read moreI came into the theater to see Kong on 03/12/17. At the 5:40 showing. This is the first time coming to this Emagine and it was one of worst experiences I've had. I've been to Rochester Hills Emagine and the Royal Oak location and had perfect experiences. But this one will go into the history of the worst. First, the scanners for the tickets kept freezing several times, I tried to get help but couldn't find any staff around. After I finally picked up my tickets, I went over to the concessions line, which, in all honesty, was disguising. Popcorn and seasonings everywhere. Can't be sanitary. After I got my popcorn, I asked for a drink and the staff rudely pointed to the other side of the theater. Once getting to the drinks, I asked for a small, and the two girls working, rolled their eyes, acting as though I interrupted the conversation. I went to get the drink from the freestyle, and the bottom was full of ice, and half the selection was out. The trash was all around the trash, but not in it. As I get to the theater, the person showing us to our seats was vague and I had to find them myself. As I was watching my movie, kids were running around, opening the exit door, letting the light in, there was talking all over the theater, phones on everywhere, and multiple people running in and out of the theater. At the end of the movie, I was waiting for the end credit scene, and the ushers started to clean right in front of me so I couldn't see the credits. After I came out of the theater, I had to squeeze by a group of ushers to get out. After, I went to the restroom, and there were two managers in the bar area, I could tell they were because I saw one earlier, and read her name tag, I didn't remember the actual name. The two managers were both on their phones, and drinking from small cups, seemingly doing nothing. I go into the restroom, and the trash was over flowing and all over the ground. A woman came out of the restroom complaining that her toilet wouldn't flush. I found that multiple were in the same condition. Overall, this has been the worst experiences at an Emagine I have ever had. Never coming to this one again. I will definitely not recommend this Emagine to anyone. AMC is a much better choice for the...
Read moreMe and my friends are 14, and we came to this theater just to have a fun night out. Instead, we ended up getting kicked out for something that really didn’t feel fair at all.
Before the movie started, we were talking quietly—nothing loud or disrespectful, just whispering like anyone would while waiting. A man sitting near us turned around and looked annoyed. Then he did it again, even though we weren’t even being loud.
Once the movie started, we did get a warning from a staff member. After that, we took it seriously and stayed completely quiet. We didn’t talk, didn’t whisper—just sat and watched the movie like everyone else. We followed the rules and were being respectful.
But even after we stopped talking, the same man kept turning around and staring at us like we were still doing something wrong. It felt like he just had a problem with us no matter what.
Eventually, someone from the theater came back and told us we had to leave. We were confused and upset because we had listened to the warning and weren’t doing anything anymore. It didn’t matter—we still got kicked out because one guy kept complaining.
Nobody else in the theater seemed to care or notice us at all. It was just that one man who kept reacting, and even though we had stopped talking completely, his complaints were still taken more seriously than the fact that we were actually behaving.
It honestly felt like we were being treated unfairly just because we were a group of teens. We weren’t causing problems, we weren’t being loud, and we listened when we were told to be quiet. What else were we supposed to do?
Getting kicked out like that in front of everyone was embarrassing, and it made us feel like we didn’t belong there—even though we paid for our tickets and followed the rules.
This whole situation could’ve been avoided if the staff had taken a moment to see what was actually happening instead of just reacting to one person’s repeated complaints.
We’re definitely not coming back to this theater. Nobody deserves to be treated like that, especially when they’re doing...
