Dining in Macomb county can be a dodgy business, subpar service, but most of all lackluster food masquerading in this case as "authentic" Italian drawing the usual pallid palates. From the onset, one could feel the negativity, culturally diverse this restaurant is not. The menu at first glance appeared impressive, but the obvious 'red herring' was that it was in Italian with a less than accurate description in English. If you are not linguist in Italian, you will most certainly feel at a disadvantage in ordering the food. One must rely on using the vague English description to articulate your order to less than impressed server. But to the food! The bruschetta was great. My husband ordered lasagne, the server assured it is "made fresh" daily. The menu description vividly described oozing bechamel sauce, luscious bolognese, heaps of parmigiana ...the reality a brown slab with charred droplets masquerading as cheese. My daughter ordered the "Michigan salad" again the menu infused the description with hyperbole "fresh plump Michigan cherries, hand picked organic greens..." The reality half a bag of dry spring salad, a smattering of dry cranberries and a slither or two of fresh strawberries. I ordered salmon, which was dry and tasteless, warmed up greasy potatoes, and raw Brussel sprouts. What was worse was the treatment by staff. The obvious snub by the manager in not approaching our table to enquire about the food and service was obvious. Actually nobody enquired how the food was, as if they already knew. The staff and diners discomfort with having human beings from different racial and cultural background was nauseating but to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe had a horrible experience. The food was great, but service/ownership was not good at all (explanation coming below). We went earlier in the dinner rush. We waited over 15 minutes to get water/drinks. In addition, we asked for an additional glass of water, which required asking 2 different people 3 times. We ordered 2 kid's pasta, 1 kid's pizza, a soup, 2 salads, and 2 pizzas=2 hours. Our original waitress had to leave, as she wasnt feel8ng well. This was evident, as she was forgetting everything, including the 2 salads that came after all of our main meal, and only after we inquired. Against our better judgment we ordered desert. We did ask before ordering how long it would take. The answer was 10 minutes, the reality was 4.5x longer. To add insult to that injury, we had ordered 2 chocolate lava cakes and a creme brule, of which there was no "brule" even after sending it back for no "brule." Upon letting the replacement waiter know we did not want custard and to remove it from the bill, he sent over the owner. The interaction was less than satisfactory. At one point, my wife was asked, "Are you talking to me?" Long story short, there were only excuses about a sick waitress and no actual customer service. We had gone here once, before children and for some reason did not go back. This past visit was an invitation from some friends. After this experience, I am pretty sure I remember why we did not go back in the first place, and we for sure will not be returning to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWent here for my Birthday, March 14th. Ordered the lamb pasta, a salad, and a fig bourbon drink to start. Every single one was a disappointment, I'll go in order they arrived.
The Drink was fine, though at something like $15-20 it was astronomically expensive and it was not garnished at all. Hence my 1 star for service. If you are serving such expensive drinks, patrons expect more than a shot in a mixer in a low ball glass.
Next, about 5 minutes after I ordered, my main dish came out. That was a dead giveaway, but I inspected it anyway. It was so hot I couldn't even touch it without blowing on the noodles. After a few seconds I took a bite and confirmed my suspicions. The $30 pasta bowl was Microwaved.
Next the salad cameout, some sort of affair in an tiny boat style bowl with chickpeas, carrots and italian dressing. It looked nice, though I do not like chickpeas on my salad and they did not specify their odd style of house salad on the menu.
When I asked why the food was microwaved and why my salad came out after it, the server could not answer and said the manager was busy.
I paid for the extremely overpriced and plain drink, tipped, and left. It was not the waitresses fault the bartender was lazy, and the "chef" is even lazier.
I can now see why almost everyone around me ordered pizza, anything else here is just a TV Dinner dressed up.
This is a disgraceful restaurant riding off some past quality that does not exist now.
Your money is better...
