The pros: I was in town for work and signed up for a clinic. It was fun, Brent was great, and I was able to join open play afterwards. Luckily, the clinic had an odd number of participants that night, so,it wasn't too difficult pairing up with someone afterwards. Met some really fun players and had a nice time.
The cons: I had so much fun on Tue that I went back on Wed night. Completely different experience Again, I am an odd number, but given how courts are usually run, with the paddle queue system, I didn't expect it to be a problem (even though it's always awkward, imo). The night of the clinic the partner I met recruited 2 players from their seats to play with us. So, even though I'm used to paddle holders, I did not think R&R used them. And I thought the process was to congregate in the middle and join the court on some honor system as games ended. When I arrived the second night, one court had 3 males, I assumed waiting on their 4th, and the other 3 courts were empty. So, I sat down to wait. Eventually, people arrived in their pre-formed groups, filling up 3 of the 4 courts. Since there was an empty court, games ended and began again with the same players. So, for those of you that think it's expensive to reserve a court, just go during open play and never leave. But after sitting for an hour and hoping other players would come, leave is exactly what I did. It was disappointing and embarrassing, tbh. I would love this place if I was from here and had my PB buddies nearby. It's much cheaper than my current court and I would love to sign up for open play with 3 of my closest friends and have a court to ourselves for 3 hrs. Going to try Tattnall this evening.
I think there needs to be more direction and organization so that open play is not dominated by...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIt's a really nice place, but court reservation is way over priced. $15 per player, and most courts aren't being reserved.. Even worse is the terrible mobile app and registration system they require. If you have friends coming into town and want to take them with you, you cannot because if they aren't in their app, you cannot add them to your reservation. Really poor choice to charge per player for a reserved court anyways..way over priced. The open court option is very reasonable ($5/person) but Unfortunately, there aren't nearly enough open courts, they are always full...and most the other courts are empty (reserved for reservations) I should be able to book a court for $15/hour (or something). that'd be totally reasonable, and not have to identify every player ahead of time.
Update: It is not about the cost of booking a court...it is that booking a court is a PER PERSON cost. That's outrageous. It should be by the hour, and as many as want can play. And, I understand needing a waiver. But ..the current app's implementation of this is terrible.
For the record, we've never been back because of this... We should go to south-bibb courts which are ALWAYS...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have now played in two pickleball tournaments at this location and it has become my favorite pickleball venue!. The courts have great surfaces and are always clean. There is more room around the courts than any indoor courts that I am familiar with - especially down center isle which is perhaps 15 to 20 feet wide. Plenty of room setup your chair and watch a game. Because of the size of the building and carpeting on the walkways surrounding the courts it is much quiter than the indoor courts I am familiar with. I live in the Atlanta area so only get to play here during tournaments but it has become my favorite venue for pball tournaments. Southern Pickleball does a great job running the...
