Les Schwab Tire Center — Local services in Madera

On 9/12/2022, we were traveling home from Shaver Lake, CA from a 7-day camping trip. About 20 miles outside of Madera on a country 2-lane highway, my travel trailer experienced not one, but TWO flat tires at the same time. One was a blow out and one was a mild deflate/separation.

I called the local Les Schwab Tire store, and Diana answered right away. I explained to her my situation. She was very positive and supportive, and assured me that LST could help. First, she verified that they had the tires in inventory, which they had 8. I then asked about getting the trailer there, and it was at that time she said they could come to me. I asked her how long that would take, and she said she would connect me with Chad, and he could answer those questions.

After a brief hold I was connected with Chad, he empathized with my story, and affirmed that LST could get me back on the road. He was finishing his lunch, asked me to give him 10 minutes, and then he would load up the tires and be on the road. He broke down the costs in detail, made sure I understood all of the costs. I was good, and he said he would see me shortly.

As Chad stated, within 35 minutes he was pulling up to my trailer. He worked hard, fast and diligently and had all 4 tires replaced, mounted and ready to go in 1 hour. Got a strange new wobble or vibration, perhaps hearing a new sound you're not familiar with, but pretty sure you shouldn't be hearing? For the princely sum of $0, they'll at very least send you in the right direction!

With the incredibly friendly, helpful staff and free coffee and popcorn, why not give them a go? I first visited them after an incident with an established local shop I shall not mention by name, let's just say the building remains but the spirit of the founder left with him. I was also not happy with the weak options immediately available at two chain shops.

When found these guys they had precisely what I wanted and the kinda attitude I enjoy doing business with! I doubt it's changed but last time I checked they do free rotations, leak patches, inflation pressure checks. I was unaware of the fact and was very pleasantly surprised when I had blown a tire with about 8K miles on it hitting a curb, that it was covered by a road hazard warranty for the first 25% of the tires tread! A curb is very much a hazard to me apparently, lol!

My driver was stranded on northbound 99 just South of Madera, with a blown out trailer tire while hauling a 12,000 forklift. I called Les Schwab Tire and talked to one of their guys (invoice shows, "Camden E B"). He had the tire I needed so I set up a service call. He said they'd be available to come out in an hour. Long story short, it was two and a half hours before a service man showed up. When I complained to him later, he said (with a somewhat "Oh well" tone), the guy had to finish something at the shop before he could send him. Had I known that, I would have called another tire company to see if I could get it done sooner. I ended up having to turn my driver around and come back to shop because he didn't have enough time to complete his trip. Total waste of time and manhours. Price was pretty steep also, but I was willing to pay it to get my driver back on the road. Would have been 5 stars if they would have been on time or done something to make up for their...
