EDIT: I've changed my review from 1 to 5 starts based on Jim's willingness to address my experience and rectify the issue. After this review, Jim reached out and apologized for the what happened, explained the legality of re-selling merchandise, but also mentioned that since one of my pieces was sold in error they should have allowed for a return of the item. He mentioned that because of this experience, he has instituted a new policy if another situation like this were to happen. He then offered to ship the and return the item to me free of charge, which I really truly appreciated as I was not able to travel back to pick up my piece. The piece then arrived promptly and safely packaged. Overall, very happy that I was able to get back the one piece that was mistakenly sold, and I am thankful to Jim's willingness to make this right.
I want to tell my personal experience with this store so people can make their own judgements about whether or not itâs the type of establishment that they should do business with.
My husband came in to sell some of my deceased mothers collected silver wares (plates, small mirrors, candle sticks etc). Due to a miscommunication he sold one item that I didnât realize was there and as soon as we found out the mistake he went back (within 5 minutes) and asked if he could get the item back and return the moneyâfor just this one item. He was told first heâd have to pay a premium, to which he said ok. But then the attendant told him heâd have to wait two weeks because itâs the law that itâs not legal to sell an item before two weeks has passed since. We didnât have two weeks because we came to clear out a house and we live out of state so he explained this and was met with no help or options whatsoever.
I then followed up explaining what happened and why the piece was in there also asking them to have some human compassion as the pieces were sentimental and an inheritance from my mom. The response was âwell maybe you shouldnât have made a mistake,â and âall sales are finalâ (the final sale piece was absolutely not made clear at the initial time of the transaction). Just incredibly rude, inhumane, and cruel. Not a way to treat another human being, let alone...
Read moreDo not recommend. AT ALL. I agree with the previous reviewer⌠will NEVER step foot in there again. There was one, very nice individual that greeted me, but the second was overwhelmingly rude. I brought in items from an estate. Without even a glance, was immediately told by the rude one that it all was âworthlessâ and I âshould donate or have a garage sale.â Exact words⌠worthless⌠and, have a garage sale.
To be fair, the ânice gentlemanâ said that he would love to look at what I brought in - but, as soon as he started to open the bag, he was immediately cut off by the rude gentleman who curtly told me they âonly want gold or coinsâ and, emphasized again that my items were âworthless.â
He even went as far as to walk over to counter where I was with âniceâ gentleman, glance over the top of the bag I had brought in, grab one item from the top and then literally just toss it back in, in disgust. Thank goodness that wasnât a treasured heirloom from my family member or I would have been devastated by the way he just handled it.
I asked if they could refer me to another shop locally that might specialize in costume or estate jewelry, thinking it may be a better fit. I also added that I had researched each of the items individually and that the ones I brought in were valued, and selling, pretty high online (which I did, and they were) so assuming I just wasnât at the right place. The rude oneâs reply? âOf course you did. Well, thatâs online. No one around here is going to want it.â
I just thanked them for their time and left. But, sitting here now, wishing I had been less passive and said something to that jerk in the moment.
Unprofessional and unnecessarily insulting. I do not care if I had brought in items that were of no interest or value to them. I expect respect and common courtesy. I would give negative...
Read moreComing in there complete disrespect, can't even lift your head to say hello, rude with the second word out of his mouth was "mask" I had to ask what ? Do you have a mask, yes I did put it on.. then how he treated my coins regardless of value had value to me tossed them back in my little box also dragged them across the glass counter as to get me out asap because of nothing worth their money or time for that matter couldn't barely look or inspect my coins just told me he has the "good" dates memorized assumed that all my information was faulting and assumptions that I only looked at Google well here's your Google info that this company is completely disrespectful and only want money the big bucks, anything else that doesn't catch there eyes off the bat is dirt to them and he actually handled my wears incredibly disgusting. As my advice find another coin dealer unless you have something of extreme value, 30yrs experience should be taken of because the only have some experience for coins and social and respectful experience is non existent there. So glad I took my gold to rick's olde gold on williamson street....
