DO NOT USE MAVIS TIRE - MADISON NJ. They are taking advantage of people. Read review…
I barely coasted into Mavis when our Alternator went bad. Lucky we live close & was able to get car to Mavis store before it stalled. They looked at truck & we would need Alternator & Battery. They estimate price = $1,487!!! YES you are reading it correctly: $1,487
I asked for breakdown of parts & labor: Battery: $450 Alternator: $400 Labor: $700 (5-6 hrs)
I was shocked so I called Napa auto parts in Chatham. I provided Vin # & Make/Year/Model. I asked for OEM parts.
Napa OEM Prices: Battery: $215 Alternator: $325 Labor: Napa told me a decent mechanic will replace Alternator in 2-3 hrs.
I called Mavis & asked them why I would pay those Parts prices. They knew they were wrong so they told me to buy parts & they would install.
The person placed me on hold to find out about completing Labor only. Eventually, after 10 mins hold, the person told me the keys were in truck & could pick up. They left car on Street with dead battery. They would not even give me “battery tender” to jump start truck. Luckily my neighbor had cables & we jumped it.
This is 2nd time this place tried to rip me off. They are taking advantage of people in Madison b/c they think we have money & will not go elsewhere.
It’s sad but the only way to make people stop this type of behavior is to hurt them financially. I highly recommend finding someone else & getting your car/truck serviced elsewhere. I found several places that were fair, reasonable & honest. My mistake for trusting a National Name Brand company.

Read moreI was looking for inexpensive tires online. Mavis tires had the best deal and low and behold there was a location close to home. I thought, perfect. I called the shop, gave them the tires I wanted and booked my appointment. After looking at my vehicle, Jason, the General Manager told me that I had ordered the wrong size for my car, but told me that he may be able to find the correct size at another Mavis and install it later in the day. Unfortunately, I had to go to work and couldn’t wait, but that I would return the next morning. I found Jason to be very kind and his demeanor showed he really wanted to help.
I returned at 8am, which is when the shop opens. Jason greeted me with a smile and though his mechanics hadn’t arrived yet he did not have me wait. He pulled my vehicle in right away and changed my tires himself. He gave a few tips, and was kind and considerate.
Then, when I thought I was done my key had gotten stuck in the ignition! Turns out, there’s a problem GMC issued regarding this issue. (Learned this via Googling while Jason tried to get the key out.) Stupid car! Jason spent extra time (quite a bit) on getting the key out of the ignition and he made sure not to cause any damage.
I will, without a doubt go back to this Mavis. I plan on buying all future tires from this place. I find the entire staff (honorable mention goes to Jared the manager who I spent a little time talking with, who was also very kind and pleasant). I trust that my car will be in great hands, and the level of service is exemplary. It’s not often that we leave any car service place with a huge smile due to...
Read moreI NEED TO SHARE MY EXPERIENCE! Yesterday, i was heading out with my daughter to an event that we were both looking forward to. As we started driving around 4:45pm I immediately noticed there was something wrong with my back tire. I stopped and realized it was completely flat. I was able to fill my tire with air at the Gulf in Florham Park which allowed me to drive to some a few repair places in Madison. I pulled up to the first location, the gas station across from Gary's wine and the Diner. Even though they were there, they said it was to close to closing time and refused to help me.
So, i then drove up the street to the Mavis location and i was met with an AMAZING group of individuals. They were about to close, BUT they said they were happy to fix my tire (with a plug) and got me and my daughter on the road in 10 min.
I asked if i could pay double and they actually refused to take any money from me. Not a dime! My daughter and i were speechless. Mavis should be so proud of this group. As a small business owner, i appreciate this type of customer service and empathy. I was blown away by their generosity and willingness to just help.
I hope many, many people see this...
