Nice community recreation center.
Workout equipment is generally in good condition. The dumbbells are all over the floor if they had additional racks to organize the weights along the lifting area it also needs some rubber mats so the dumbbells don't get damaged or break the concrete floor.
For the size of the gym it has pretty much the equipment you need to have a complete workout. The facility is never too crowded and people are friendly.
There is a day care during the day which is convenient for people close by, there is an outdoor pool and a soccer field it seems a good place for families with kids.
The basketball courts are nice there are two. There is an indoor track upstairs and some little equipment in some awkward spots to make use of the space.
The place is good and serves as a rec center to the community. Maybe needs some updating but is not terrible.
I never get to figure out their cleaning towel station - there is a desk with a young guy folding towels and filling spray bottles with sanitizer - supposedly you clean up after yourself which is a great idea specially in areas where you make skin contact, there is a basket where you deposit dirty towels to the laundry. I suggest using disposable sanitizing wipes and have multiple stands around the gym for patrons to use. The kid that is always there is falling asleep or watching YouTube I bet the position is boring.
All the staff is very kind and friendly, there is a guy at the front desk that always says have a good workout! They create a good welcoming environment.
There are classes for aerobics in the evenings or Saturdays.
Maybe they can promote some social events where people would participate or get involved into fitness example sports, resistance classes, running marathons.
They seem to care about maintaining the facility and is appreciated cause there are not gyms in Magna and all the commercial gyms nearby are packed...
Read moreThe staff is nice, but everything else is a @#$% show. The splash pad isn't free, and you have to make reservations to swim in the pool. You have to make reservations online. Unfortunately, if you don't remember your password you have to do a request, and that is never answered. This means you have to create a completely new one using a different gmail account.
Two days later, the first password request still hasn't been responded to, and I sure haven't forgot the password for the new account, I go to log in and the password doesn't work. It's a complete joke the way the pool is run, blame it on Covid all you want, but this level of incompetency is epic level.
The pool has more rules than any place I have ever been including the military. My daughter was jumping off the diving board and I was sitting on the side watching her, you know like a responsible parent, and after my time as a Coast Guard Rescue Swimmer I trust myself more than a tweeny who learned life saving techniques on a dummy, apparently you can't have your legs in the pool by the diving board. Then they force the children to swim the long way to the side instead of the shorter way, saying they may get hit if someone else jumps. That would be great, except there wasn't another person anywhere around....at all. More lifeguards than people at the pool.
If my daughter didn't want to swim, I probably wouldn't spend a cent at the pool. Now I just send my daughter by herself, she is old enough and after spending years running white water, she is probably a better swimmer than most of the lifeguards, at least I don't have to deal with the petty "don't have fun rules" now if we can just teach the webmasters how to make a website work properly.
I give it two stars because sometimes the...
Read moreThe gym is nice but not the employees. I signed my son up for the indoor soccer. The coordinator Ricardo is rude, unprofessional and unorganized. The day of meeting coaches they did not have the correct size of jersey. I was told my sons practice classes would be 5 30 pm but he gave my son the latest class 8-9 pm which does not work for me on school nights. I tried to get him to see if he could switch my son to another team with better schedule and he didn't. As soon as I tired around he was talking to another parent and working out a schedule as I am standing there still. Then when I asked about his jersey he stated he doesn't order by sizes he orders whatever he has. He bought xs size for 2nd grade boys which they were small for the entire team. When I registered my son they asked what size he needed and his response was he doesn't order by sizes they need. That makes no sense. Then he stated that he'll keep looking to see if he can find a jersey his size and he'll let me know in a week. If he doesn't find one he'll refund me. Well with that kind of attitude i decided that my son will not be a part of his shenanigans and I requested a refund. Also when I gave him a call a few days before the meeting he yelled and got argumentative with me on the phone for asking questions which I had then reported him to a higher person. This man needs to adjust his attitude and be a little more organized. Even several of the coaches told me that he does this every year. Glad I took my son...
