Brew Monkey Coffee House and Deli — Restaurant in Magna

Solid but could use some improvement. I've been to this place countless times. It's home to one of if not my favorite coffee drink. (Shoutout to the "Tremor." 4 shots of espresso, vanilla and caramel flavoring added.) I pretty much only come here for breakfast related items so my review is based on those items.

The food: Again, this is for their breakfast items. My favorites are the jumbo breakfast stack, breakfast burritos, and the monkey toaster. They are great choices and are offered at reasonable prices. However, sometimes they can be a little bit bland in taste.

The drinks: If you're someone who enjoys lots of customization with drinks than this place is for you. There are hundreds of different combinations to try. Every month they feature teamed drinks with fun and quirky names. You can also get them frozen, iced, and hot. All of that is pretty great!

Why the 3 out of 5 stars? Simple, consistency in the food and wait times. I've had food items over and over as the years have gone on and find I can get mediocre breakfast burritos for a while, then I can get really good ones for 3 months straight. They can also have way more veggies for a bit then the next week or so have more meat. (Using the burrito as an example.) My advice is to get the recipe consistently great. The wait times here are also a mixed bag. Sometimes I'm in and out in 5 to 10 minutes for a simple sandwich and drink or I'm waiting 30+ minutes for 1 drink and it's not even that busy. This is a problem. I can only come here if I know I dont have anywhere else to go for a while. With all that being said. I like this place. I really do. It just has a few problems that need fixing for me to give it 4 or 5 stars. I've been coming here for over 5 years now and I'll continue to do so. I'll be even more excited when (hopefully) the current issues are no longer a problem.

I ordered a Wisconsin cheese soup, I asked if it was vegetarian, specifically if it had any meat stock. I was informed that the soup did not have any meat and was in fact vegetarian. I opened my soup and it immediately smelled of cooked pig. I thought maybe it was just the cheese and proceeded to take a small bite. It definitely began to taste of meat and then I had a pink fleshy chunk in my soup I believed to be bacon. I called and asked if there was any bacon in the soup and was told there was not. I asked again if it was in fact vegetarian and was told again it was. One thing I really don't like is being told I'm not eating flesh when in fact I am. It's really careless and immoral.

I received a call from the manager I believe. It was immediately the next afternoon so they were pretty quick on the response. They listened my concerns and offered solutions to resolve the problem. They're also making sure to inform others what is and what isn't vegetarian and the importance of getting it right. It's okay to say you don't know than to lie about something you don't know. I went there today in the morning to order 2 chicken sandwhiches cibata and a side of shredded potatoes. They took 10 mins to come to the window to take my order after I pressed the button twice. I put my order in and it took an additional 30 mins just to get my order from the drive thru! At about 35 mins in I asked them if they were even close to being done and the lady got a atttitude because I said if its going to take over 30 mins to get your food you should really let you customers know because I wouldnt have waitied. To top it off she tells me its going to be 10 more minutes and to pull forward. Of course I got upset and she completely seen it and told her employee "just take it off the grill now and throw on the veggies and give it to him." The chicken wasnt even cooked and I told her that I didnt want it if it wasnt done!! Pink chicken uncooked and there shredded potatoes was a hash brown mashed up by hand literally. My potatoes were so cold when I got my food it tasted completely NASTY!! So dissapointed. Poor management. Please dont open up a buisness if your excuse is you cant keep up...
