If you are planning on attending this college for IT please reconsider another option, here is why: First off the IT programs arent using industry standard software they try to save a few bucks and use freeware instead of actual security and virtualization software. Second the instructors at this school (at least the IT ones i have experienced) with the exception of one (luke a. hes actually awesome and knows his stuff) have little to no experience with the classes and software they are experiencing. I had an ex cop teach a windows server class who literally just read off an online tutorial and couldn't answer any questions as he is very unqualified to teach this class. I have also had another instructor who was a mobile device manager for a virtualization class. while this might not be terrible if he knew how to teach the program or had any knowledge about vmware, however he had nearly no knowledge about the software. and second he tried to teach the class using vmware workstation unlike the actual version ESXi that is an industry standard and the concepts do not transfer over. I had experience in ESXI HAD TO WALK THE INSTRUCTOR THROUGH THE ENTIRE SOFTWARE SETUP AND INSTALLATION ALONG WITH RUNNING THE PROGRAM. so in short i was paying to teach the teacher, nice. the main reason that i left this school for a real one was Israel Emmanuel. probably the worst instructor ever. So israel would show up to the 2.5hr class a few minutes late then rant for 20 minutes about how hard his life is grading our labs and would quickly overview the labs for 5 min point us to his youtube channel where he gave a very low quality instruction of what to do then leaves us to do the lab and doesn't return. I later had a file that got corrupted over spring break that i needed to do the midterm lab and i emailed him asap asking if i could get it from him. he asked me to come in and get it and when i did he was like "i dont have it its on another system" and offered no resolution. i contacted his dean (iddi adams) about leaving class and his dean setup a meeting with me which i drove in for and he wasn't even there according to his assistant, so i rescheduled and same thing. he then said he would call me which he finally did 3 days later and then contacted israel to get his side of the story. he then replied back saying israel wasnt leaving class and "surveyed students" regarding that and said he wasnt and countered it with "you aren't doing your work and your class grade reflects it" which is funny because i couldn't do my work or midterm as i was unable to use that needed corrupt file. I then contacted Iddis boss michael b. regarding this and his response was similar completely blowing off the point of his absence and leaving class early and saying i needed to start doing my work. so i went up a level and contacted the president of the school with my story and their emails along with statements from 4 other students in my classes confirming my claims, to which Michael replied back saying again i'm a poor student (getting a's and b's in my other classes) and not doing my work and i would not get my request of a drop and refund as well as saying israel was a top notch instructor and it was my slacking that's to blame for my class grade not at all that i wasn't provided the necessary materials to do my work. its funny that a few weeks after the semester ended everyone in his classes was refunded the amount that the certification exam was included with the class fee as the class was deemed "unprepared" for the exam. defiantly true as the exam was based on industry standard software not Israels crappy 1990's freeware. So in short i do not recommend this college if you can even call it that unless you like wasting money to learn absolutely nothing relevant to your...
Read moreAlrighty. Let's break it down. I attended from 2000-2001 as a PSEO student, and now I'm baaaack to finish up my Associate's Degree. Holy cow! They do make it difficult to get your degree earned. They did skirt around the whole principle of MNTC which was to HELP you transfer more EASILY to another MNTC accredited university (** NOTE: do your research! Not everywhere is MNTC accredited nor has articulation agreements w/Century. U of M Duluth, U 0f M Twin Cities, Augsburg, St.Catherine's, McCalester, Hamline, Dunwoody, any privatized or semi-privatized / combined type of university WILL NOT have transfer-for-transfer available. Go to Transferology, and bug the begeeebers out of your advisor at Century and your transfer school of interest, or it will co$t you!). Second deal is - any course ending in a zero will not get you anything - get it? Ends in a zero = no transfer credit. All courses ending with a "1" or higher are more difficult and will get you credit and transfer equivalencies. So, truly instead of being a "2-year transfer college", you could end up having 3 to 4 years if you don't look into the details & create & commit to a plan! Rasmussen College does this as well - 3 year specialty degrees at quite a high price ($30k when all is said and done - your average career will start out at around 35 -55K, so you can figure out your return on investment there (ROI)). You DO need to put your financial business hat on when looking into education - or doing anything major in life. Be smart about what you are doing. Check in with your advisor regularly. It is up to you as a "consumer" of education to get your facts checked, and dive into how much out of pocket you'll owe if you go over your allotted credits per financial aid. Also, be aware of withdraw dates and last day alerts where you can get a full refund and a 'w' rather than an 'F' on your transcript! Those are my points for anyone, anywhere. Century can be a great experience, but yes, they DO function...
Read more2013 Continuing education ed is horrible. The teacher is senseless and uncaring. I am very disappointed to be loosing 1200. I was just there for three days and failed the intern without any good explanations to why. I felt cheated. The excuses of me being terminated there was because of my purse and just because I looked like wasn't interest in the field when I seem excited to learn whats next. I was accuse of saying the word bogus when I didn't this it highly misunderstood. The Unit coordinator at Burchwood senior even ask me if my parents speak English to question personal information that I was uncomfortable about. Also to seeing her eyes rolling at a dementia patient is even more cruel. The most cruel is the 2nd trainer Melissa asking me to sign the date right were a Nurse's signature is which I wasn't suppose to. She told me to do it anyways which I asked her to why she didn't do it and she just told me to sign it.
2014 I was in rage in 2013 so forgive the complaint. What I learn from all of this is being a strong person. I was caught in all this web of lies and being pressure by my teacher Denise to do my intern asap when she let the most of the other class time to do it. She gave most of the places to favorite students and waited for me to pass my test before anything. At the time I have work hard, had other college classes, and family and things were just stressing me. The pressure was intense I felt like I wasn't even ready and the stress level at the time had put me into a vulnerable position. Anyways Life is a learning lesson and I learned not to be too naive and innocent as well as putting me in this positions again.
To your answer it wasn't resolved. I lost my money and moved forward to another college. I did talked to the person who lead the program. There was nothing she suggested except her apology. The teacher had several complaint and don't know if she quit or...
