Sierra Star Golf Course — Local services in Mammoth Lakes

I drove into Mammoth on the way home back to Salt Lake City, Utah. Fighting the daylight, I rushed to the Sierra Star Golf Course in hopes of utilizing their 5 after 5 deal. While speeding every second possible from Yosemite to Mammoth, once I arrived, I was disappointed to find out that I had missed the cut-off for being eligible to play the five holes by at least an hour or so. Very disappointed, I began to leave the Pro-Shop when the man running the shop (Keith I believe his name was) asked if I would like to set up a tee time for the following morning. Being extremely mad and upset that I missed my window, I explained my situation and how I was leaving the following morning to go back home to Utah. The following is the SOLE reason I am writing my first review EVER!! After my sorry explanation, the man in charge said that he would cut me a break and allow for me to play as many holes as I could get in before the sun set. It may not seem like a big deal to you guys, but was honestly instrumental for me!! I have a huge passion for the game of golf and merely would love to play as many beautiful golf courses as I can in life. So after going through what I had to get to the course (late), it literally meant the world to me to be allowed to experience such a breathtaking course. Sierra Star hands down goes into the books as one of the MOST aesthetically pleasing and enjoyable courses I have ever had the privilege of playing. Thank you kind sir who went out of his way to allow me to play when he most certainly did not have to. And thank you Sierra Star, for being an immaculately stunning view with great ALL AROUND course...

2023 Congratulations to Head Pro Dave Schacht and his team for continuing their superb golf course, service, food, and merchandise. When I played there 4 years ago for a week of golf, I wrote the review listed below. Now in 2023, I applaud Dave and his team for exceeding what I experienced in 2019. The course and service are even better! Superintendent Patrick worked miracles with that tough 2023 winter, the greens are amazing. Sierra Star's Chip Shot Café, the 19th hole, now is one of the best kept secrets in town—best view in town, quality food, and friendly service. The staff continues to make every experienced from arrival to departure superior. My 5 Star rating is now a 6 star rating.

2019 “Daily we felt as like a member of the Sierra Star family thanks to the friendly and responsive cart team and bag staff. All the starters did a terrific job. Besides great golf on a beautiful course, the food, bar, and service are the best kept secret in Mammoth!!! The golf course was in great shape thanks to Patrick Lewis and his team. The golf shop offered an excellent selection of quality golf attire at good prices. Everyone who worked there had a smile on their face and cared that our golf experience in Mammoth...

If you want views this is your place! If you want good service this NOT your spot. I’d suggest snow creek. Save some money and get way better service. Trying to enjoy some family time and I knew we were slower players so i made sure we were the last ones on the green that night. While finishing a hole my son was taking longer to putt. Then one of the staff members approached us and said we needed to get going. We just looked at him a bit confused bc he said this with no explanation. Then without a word from us he went to say, “I don’t care who you are or where you live what you’re doing is not cool. Then screamed, “get the F off the course” as they drove by. I wish I was making this up. I wish I would have said something crazy like, “do you know who i am? Do you know where i live!?” But i wouldn’t it’s 2020 who says those things anymore?!? Get over yourself power trip golf marshall! I’ve got a young boy learning the game of golf with his Mom and Dad and this is what he’ll remember.
