ICON Dance Complex — Local services in Manalapan Township

If I could rate it 0 stars I would. My 13 year old daughter has been going to ICON ever since she was 8 years old. BIG MISTAKE. This snotty dance studio put my poor little daughter in the back row of the dances EVERY YEAR. She wasn't a bad dancer. There were plenty of other kids worse than her, who were put in the front. She claims that she wasn't pretty enough to be put in the front. She would be hysterically crying coming home from dance every Monday telling me how all the skinny girls would fill up the first and second rows all the time! Every class. She thought she was fat, ugly, worthless, etc. Her self-confidence dropped terribly low. Going to dance would be a burden for her. She would get extreme anxiety and would have mental breakdowns. She still struggles with this 2 years after she quit. She does counseling, however still suffers with depression. Honestly, I blame the teacher. Dance is supposed to boost your confidence, not bring it down. They never gave her a chance. If your son/daughter does not meet their standards of good-looks... BEWARE. You may think I'm crazy, but this is the TRUTH. All this studio will do for your child is try and hide them by sticking them in the back corners. Ridiculous. I wan't my money back!...

Icon Dance Studio is the best in town. For years both of our daughters went to another dance school which was very good, but not until we attended dance competitions from around NJ & NY that we saw Icon Dance students who were superlative in skill, choreography and creativity all the rest of the studios. I went as far as to inquire about this school right there and a decision was made to transfer my girls to Icon. They've been with Icon for 2 years now and what a difference!!! First of all the family who owns this school really cares about their students and their well being, training and giving everyone an equal opportunity. No matter the kid's size, skill or looks - they all get a chance to shine. Best of the best audition to be part of competition dance groups and that's when they really go to a whole other level. All the employees, instructors & especially Geo are really amazing people, professionals who really care and make every child feel welcome and help each student make progress. I HIGHLY recommend you bring your son or daughter to Icon...

My son Michael started dance class this year at Icon. We live in Howell and I work in Manalapan and so every Friday night I drive from work to pick him up and drive back to Manalapan for his dance class. So many people thought it was crazy and there are a lot of dancing schools closer to home. Many of the moms I met at Icon told me the recital was like no other recital I have ever been to and after going to our first recital last night, they are absolutely right. Can’t believe how talented the kids are! The owner Geo is a great inspiration to the kids and it’s a family business where everyone is involved. Geo’s dad is there every Friday night and knows almost every parents name! He is incredible! That being said we are so happy with Icon and look forward to my son growing more with them...
