Trattoria Ravello — Restaurant in Englishtown

Really true to all the positive reviews. The opportunity came up for an early dinner with my older Sister. She is now living in PA and no longer knows the area like I do. It was a tough day after visiting our parents at the cemetery. A tough day. The restaurant was a great buffer as everything went so well there. The waiter was great. We both ended up ordering the same entrée! It was not anything unusual, we both decided on the Veal Marsala. I have had my share of this choice many, many times before, usually with my late Dad. Let me just tell you, everything was great from the moment we sat down. Like I mentioned, the waiter and I wish I remembered his name now, was very professional and knowledgeable. The food was served hot and was really just perfect. We left there and my Sis said that she thought I picked a great place. I won't go in to too much detail because this was an afterthought. The cemetery was the primary reason we went there afterwards. It was a pleasure to find this gem of a true family style Northern Italian fare on such short notice. Later that day, after she arrived back home, my Sister texted me and said I picked a really great place. I was immediately grateful for that compliment as she is so very loved and important to me. Now more than ever. I suggest strongly Trattoria Ravello for any family any time. I must say this again, the service was excellent and the food top notch. I had a great dinner the next night with the take home we didn't eat that night as the dishes really are family style. If you live close by, go there. If you live a distance, go there anyway. I am sure glad we did. I couldn't have asked for a better, cleaner and tastier alternative. As difficult as it was already, Trattoria Ravello made it much easier on us. I commented on the way out to the manager that the food AND service was just excellent. It was. I won't forget this day and am so happy going there made her smile and be happy, from moment to moment. I will be returning back there and suggest you all go. It's truly a great place with amazing food and a full bar to boot. Thanks to our waiter now I cannot remember his name. So disappointed used to come here often almost always had takeout, but moved out of the area, however when we are back in the area for family we always stop in for pizza. We placed our usual full pizza order + garlic knots at the register and found a table. Immediately on sitting down, the women working was so rude and kicked us out of eating there because my 5 year old son brought in McDonalds. She said " you can't be here with McDonald there is a huge sign when you walk in", my 5 year old son started to cry, and I just asked her can you please adjust our order to take out. However the whole experience was disappointing she couldn't make an exception on mcdonalds for a 5 year old. My son is extremely picky, he doesn't eat Italian food. We just came from a funeral of his great grandfather. Please know this place is NOT family friendly. That said the pizza is very good and garlic knots very good. I have gone to this restaurant for lunch many times, and make it a point to go everytime im in town for Gaskos and Englishtown Auction.This time it was dinner time, we were there on Friday around 500, and unfortunately it was nothing but a disappointment . we ordered appetizers, and split the Walnut Gorgonzola salad, which had no lettuce in it, it was basically a bowl of gorgonzola, sundried tomatoes and walnuts., it was unedible. Our waitress then brought out our entrees while our app dishes were piling up, she actually moved them out of the way placing our entrees down and then walked away empty handed. The hostess and other servers walked past numerous times, and noone picked anything up, we could barely move. The server never came back to check on our entrees which were just "OK" the pasta salad that comes with the cheesesteak wrap was horrible and bland, my aunt was not crazy about her dish either.
