One morning I went to the Manassas,Va H Mart to get a few things, I was approaching the register and the next thing you know I slip and fell on the floor. There was NO signs or warnings saying that the floor was wet. My left knee go hurt, the skins got ripped off because when I feel my knee got under the cart.Also, my left big toe was bleeding because it got cut by the cart's wheel and my back also got hurt because when I fell I fell on my butt.When I slipped and fell, someone told an employee that the floor was wet so they can clean it up. Afterward, an employee came up to me and gave me a paper with their name and number on it and say" if you need,go see a doctor and bring in the medical bills". They gave me a form and told me to fill it out and give it to them when I'm done and also told me to bring in the medical bills.They never ask if I needed paramedic or any medical attention.Than I went to the hospital to get checked out, to make sure there wasn't any broken bones or any other injuries. Afterward, I received 3 bills from the hospital in different times but from the SAME day and time I went to the hospital. I have spoken to the manager/ the person in charge of this case, and they won't give me any information, all they say is " I have to call the headquarters and see what they say". Now,a MONTH AND A HALF later,I still haven't get any respond from them, they told me to be patient but it has been MORE THAN A MONTH. The store never gave me their insurance company's number and they never gave me their headquarters number. I had to go online to find the headquarters number by myself.They also,hung up on me when I call them. They still haven't tell me why they are not paying for all the medical bills when they told me to go see a doctor. My back still hurts from the day I feel in the story. Read moreI have shopped at HMart for years - I left this area to live overseas. A lot has changed - I came back during the COVID-19 era, so I understand there will be shortages. We are not in our glory days anymore. However, MANAGEMENT is a nightmare. Tonight, I had one of the most blood curdling experiences. I asked the delivery status of a very common Korean/East [Southeast] Asian item, and you would think I was asking for the world. If something is out, that's fine, but the way I was treated was unacceptable. A manager that I usually like outright disrespected and intimidated me at customer service. I don't have to go into detail here because I filed a BBB complaint, so they will know, but it seems everything is fine at this location unless you need Management (I used to go a different location before this one opened in Manassas, that's how long I've shopped at HMart - about 14 years). Incredibly dismissive and rude, and yes, I yelled back at the manager to give me his name and he refused twice. Apparently, he thinks he is above reprimand - I think not. In defiance, I will continue to shop here when I feel like it because I have never had any issues with any staff or raised my voice at any staff member here before, even when they would not or could not help me.
Everyone has their own experience, and you may never experience this (I sincerely hope not), but this has been mine. In better times, it is a good store with good variety, fresh produce, cleanliness and decent customer service. Other locations may be better stocked than this location, but they do great for our area. The prices can be overinflated (double check your receipts as well for price mismatches), so it has never been my only grocery store, but I go weekly or bi-weekly and usually spend $50-$100, so I guess I've liked it quite well. Thank you to the manager for giving me the motivation to branch out to other international/Korean grocery stores or my old HMart locations (I hope the management is better at those). Good...
Read moreIf I could give this place less than 1 star I would. This place needs to be checked by the Health Inspector. I saw the food service Cooks and Helpers pick food up with their hands without gloves and put it on customer dishes, then go back to cleaning the floor and picking up dirty dishes without washing their hands. One cook drop food on the floor and scoop it up with a spoon and put it on the customer's plate and call the number for the customer to pick the order up, OMG! I waited a half an hour for my food, while workers from H Mart were jumping in front of me and getting their orders within a couple minutes. A man behind me and I asked to speak to the manager and they ALL said, NO MANAGER HERE and then ignored us by telling us they were too busy and their was too much work for them. I went to the customer service desk and the employees told me they didn't speak English. They kept saying, too bad, goodbye. The male customer and I put all the groceries from our cart back on the shelves and said we would never come back. I hope this gets reviewed by everyone because, according to the 5 star reviews of this place, which I think are PHONEY, I don't get that people don't see a problem with this place. The first time I came, when they opened up last year, the food was old and was not taken off the produce and meat shelves, which means they must have transported food from another H Mart store.
