I asked if my son's Chromebook was worth fixing or not. I could not even get a price range estimate on the repair, over the phone. Fine, no big deal, I bring the computer in. The man said he could use replacement parts and that it would be affordable and cheaper than a new laptop. He called me and quoted $200, which I was hesitant to pay, because the same laptop is $300 brand new. I decided to proceed with the repair. When I got the computer back, the screen seemed smaller, but I wasn't really worried about it. Once I got home, I was unable to get the touch screen to work. I texted the man to ask if the screen was still a touch screen. He texted back saying it was. When I could not for the life of me get the screen to work, I called him. He then told me he "had mixed up his contacts" and he thought I was someone else. He then told me this Chromebook was never a touch screen. I told him it was and he insisted again that it wasn't. My son has special needs, and requires a touch screen, so I assured him the screen had always been a touch screen. He then told me he just tried to repair with the cheapest option. That wasn't what I asked for. Now I have a useless Chromebook because my kid can’t use it, and I don’t need it, and I'm out $200. He straight swindled me. In response to the owner's response: you are dishonest. You gave me the run around and ripped me off. You did not offer me a full refund, you offered to take my kid's laptop apart again, or fix it correctly to me more for the labor and correct part. You know what you did, you are a liar. Also, your response absolutely shows your lack of...
Read moreI was in the market for a new computer, looking to upgrade my AMD 3 based system. After shopping around, I decided to explore building one on my own. After spending several days researching, I decided on what I thought would be a good system. Having had a system built by a local computer repair shop in the past, I was comfortable in building a system over buying one from one of the big companies like Dell, HP, Best Buy, etc. Additionally, I wanted to support a local small business. So, I went to Simon at HGS Computers in Manassas. I have no regrets. After reviewing my design and providing suggestions to improve performance, we agreed on a really good system that cost hundreds less than buying from the big guys. Simon knows what he’s doing and completed a professional build. He has great attention to detail and takes pride in his work. He built the computer like it was his own. He is responsive; I ordered the computer on the 10th and it was ready on the 12th. And to top it all off, Simon is personable and was a pleasure to work with. So, if you’re in the market for a new computer for school, work, or gaming, give Simon at HGS Computers a call. Based on my experience with him, you’ll be very...
Read moreHuman Salman, the proprietor, was a pleasure! I decided to change the battery in an old laptop on my own, but was unable to remove a stripped screw which held the battery in. I called Human on a Sunday afternoon, and he responded immediately. I brought my laptop over to him, along with the new battery. He quickly removed the screw and also installed my new battery, put all screws back in and also wiped it down, as I mentioned I was giving it to my son. All done within just a few minutes. When asked how much I owed him, he told me to give him what I wanted to. I only paid a very nominal cost. I guess I have become somewhat jaded when dealing with some contractors, as they try to get as much money out of you as they can. To say he was fair is an understatement, not to mention he took time on a Sunday afternoon. He did mention the computer services he provides and I am absolutely sure I will take my computer to him if I encounter any problems. What a great guy! I believe in supporting our small business men, so please use HGS for all your...
