1st time, and likely last time. Called ahead for a 1 hr deep tissue massage. Arrived on time and the masseuse was ready to go. Once settled in the room on my stomach, I asked her not to massage my feet because Iām ticklish. I also said that Iām experiencing some sciatica pain, but feel free to rub it out. I asked for medium pressure, but frankly, never got it.
Couple of things that occurred that resulted in my low review:
I asked for a deep tissue and got a Swedish, at best. I did ask the masseuse to go harder, which she did sporadically. Most of the time, it was a nice massage, but I wanted a deep tissue.
Within the first 10 minutes, she started to vigorously rub my feet/soles and asked if it was ok, which I politely said no thank you.
During the massage, she asked me if I wanted a specific service, to which I didnāt understand and just said, no thank you. I was truly relaxed, but now wondering why that happened.
At one point, she put hot stones on my skin, which felt nice, but was wondering why the deep tissue stopped, and also wondered if I would be up charged for this.
About 10 minutes later, she then asked if I wanted a body scrub, to which I said no thank you.
Throughout the massage, I was wondering when I would turn over, which didnāt come until the buzzer went off, and she asked me if I wanted more time. I said, no thank you.
The last two minutes, she chopped at my legs, pulled my arms and legs, and walked out. Iāve been to many massage places before, and this was VERY odd.
So, I got up, walked up to the register. She was kind to give me a bottle of water. I paid, and gave her a $20 tip for a $73 service. When she saw that, she literally took it, looked down and said āok.ā I walked out.
To be honest, I was disappointed as I walk past this place daily to catch the VRE. I was hoping this would be my spot, somewhere I could bring or spoil my wife. To be fair, this is one experience and one masseuse. It was towards the end of the day, and Friday. I get it. But at the same token, give the customer what they ask for, or deny/decline the service.
In no way is this an attempt to trash a business. But I do expect more, and encourage this business to recognize that this is occurring, and that they could be an amazing service with an...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have been to different massage places (chain, private and event in house service), but L & Z is my favorite out of all of them. L & Z is able to accommodate last minute appointments and their staff remains consistent. They actually provide a full 60 minutes, unlike most places I have gone to where you only receive 50 minutes. They provide hot stones without charging extra and actually provide the right level of intensity for a massage. My favorite massage therapist is Sophia. She is phenomenal. She knows how to give a true deep tissue massage, but does not make it where you are in tons of pain. She actually gets my "knots" out. When I leave from L & Z l, I actually feel like I can move my neck and shoulders freely (experience major neck and shoulder issues). Sophia will periodically ask how the pressure is and makes sure you feel comfortable. She uses different massage techniques that I have never experienced. I could go on and on about her professionalism and massages. The staff is very friendly and their costs are very reasonable. I can say I found my...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe massage itself was good, but during the appointment, I had put my clothes on a chair and they put my clothes on the floor (the chair was the only provided surface), people kept talking to each other through the curtain (there was no door to our room), the person doing my massage took a phone call, then the person doing my massage left the room to talk to someone in the lobby and then came back later (mid massage). I wasn't sure what to tip because it was such an odd experience, I'm sure they meant well but there were too many interruptions and not enough privacy. And don't put people's clean clothes directly on the floor.
Update: no matter how clean the floor is, I don't actually want anyone to place my things on the floor without asking. And had they asked, I would have said no, or at least put a towel under them to keep them from being on the floor. I assume that's why you mentioned hygiene? Also, whether or not you punish people, just maybe teach them how to do things. They didn't seem like bad people. It just wasn't a good...
