Today, my husband and I came in for lunch. We are visiting the area and your restaurant was suggested to us by the local chamber.
We are disappointed in the experience we had. It started when we were being seated by a server at an outside table. He made the comment “I’m not in the mood for people today” Great first impression.
We decided to move inside and that was not received well. I felt as if we were putting everyone out. The young lady waiting on us was less than cheerful. She took our order and this is how that went :
We both ordered the Reuben sandwich with french fries. Asked for malt vinegar which was never brought to the table. The server didn’t come back to ask if everything was okay or if we wanted a second cup of coffee or a refill on Ale. My Reuben did not have sauerkraut. That’s right, a Reuben without sauerkraut or dressing. We did let her know about the Reuben when she did finally come back to see us. When it was time for the check my husband had to go and get it.
And for these reasons. No vinegar, No Sauerkraut, No refills on coffee or Ale. No check and pretty much being ignored we left no tip. That was very hard to do since I am in the business and know servers make their money on tips.
I will say the food was hot and very...
Read moreIt was our first dinner during a brief stay in Manchester, Vermont. The restaurant was bustling and quite loud indoors due to a couple of large business groups dining, so we chose to sit outside. The overall atmosphere was pleasant, and the food exceeded our expectations, especially considering the reasonable price point. I also appreciated the thoughtful plating.
However, the service didn’t quite match the quality of the food and ambiance. It wasn’t terrible, just very basic and somewhat cold. Before our meals arrived, two spiders suddenly dropped down in front of my face above the table. I asked for a paper napkin to gently remove them (trying not to ruin the cloth ones), and one of the male waiters listened to my request and said he’d handle it but never returned. Later, when I pointed out the spiders climbing the wall next to me, our server removed them without much expression on her face, similar to her demeanor throughout our meal.
I’m grateful the issue was eventually taken care of, and it didn’t ruin my meal. Perhaps the server has a hard day, however, a bit more warmth and attentiveness from the staff would have elevated the experience...
Read moreI have been here several times and each time I tell myself that I have to find a better place to eat. Last time I was there I ordered a N.Y. strip steak, and I wanted it cooked "medium", which some people may call heresy. But that is how I wanted it. When it was served to me, I cut into it, and that poor cow was still in its death throes - 1/8" cooked on each side and dark as a good Burgundy inside and not just in the center. The waitress actually acknowledged that it was not "medium". She took it back and they put it back(!) on the grill for a couple of minutes. Returning it to me, it was still a far cry from "medium", and any further handling and I could have used it for soles on my shoes. A serious case of frozen steak meets hot grill. Not a happy meeting. At this time I didn't bother, ate it, had some dessert (a good cheesecake, really!), paid and left. Yeah, I have been here about 8 times over the past three years, and sorry to say, it has been a (consistent) downhill trip. Save your time and money and find a different place. I know I will (finally). This was...
