Unfortunately, my review is unlike the others listed here.
Summary: My guy should have been more wary, should have been more aware of what I wanted. BUT the jeweler SIGNIFICANTLY overcharged, and had very poor customer service.
Hereâs the whole story: I first went into the store alone. I was looking for a very specific color of sapphire (parti sapphire from Australia). The jewelers, though very nice, seemed unsure but said they could find a stone. I was assured that they were experts in gemstones, shown credentials, and had access to expert distributors who would find exactly the parti sapphire I wanted. I showed picture after picture, discussed the dream thoroughly. Later, I and my fiancĂ© went back. We previewed stones. They were close, but not quite right. I explained how we could get closer. The jeweler took no notes, and several times I had to correct them on things like ârose gold, not goldâ. Honestly, they seemed a bit scattered. We discussed it thoroughlyâŠSize, color, ring metal, setting. They assured me they would work to find my perfect ring. I showed plenty of pictures of my desired ring. But, again, no notes. The jeweler was somewhat pressuring us to choose things based on her expertise, but I expect that of all sales so I didnât think much of it.
In order to keep me out of the loop, my fiancĂ© returned alone. Should he have had a much clearer understanding for himself about my specifics? Yes. Thatâs on him. But herein lies the problem:
They talked him into buying a ring that was the wrong color, wrong metal, wrong setting, wrong shape. And according to him, they were CONVINCED the stone they showed him was correct based on our previous talks. He trusted their judgement because they were the âexpertsâ and he knows very little about jewelry. They also pressured him to increase the carat size âto be more engagement likeâ
Because I disliked everything about the ring, we set out on a journey to replace it immediately. The store has a zero returns policy, no exceptions. So, they were unhelpful and unwilling to offer any insight or direction. When he told them we were unsatisfied, they pretty much said âsorry, youâre out of luck. We canât modify and we donât know who would buy this ring from you.â Every store has the right to their policies, but they didnât care a wink that I was deeply dissatisfied with the ring they created. From my understanding they were fairly rude about it also.
However, my PRIMARY concern is the pricing.
Weâve searched high and low. According to 4 other jewelers and sapphire experts, we were overcharged by $6000-$7,000. One appraiser literally said âIâm so sorry to tell you this but you were grossly ripped offâ He said the setting was a mass produced setting and the sapphire âwas not nearly that specialâ.
Again, my fiancĂ© has a part in this BUT the store significantly overcharged, had poor customer service, and poor response to customer dissatisfaction. Ultimately, itâs possible that the jeweler was also overcharged for the stone, because they seemed to know very little about the type of sapphire I wanted. But, I wish that from the very beginning they wouldâve said âsorry, Iâm a diamond expert, and sapphires arenât my realm. Go elsewhereâ instead of convincing us they could find the right piece, and...

My fiancĂ© first met with Michael and we returned shortly after and met with Anne. At this time they were moving locations and for a business had a lot of new and exciting things happening for them. They did not blink an eye when it came time to make their customers feel like the most important part of their day. My fiancĂ© was determined to find the perfect ring and they made that their number one priority . Although working between two locations my fiancĂ© expressed that he could not wait more that just a couple of days for the ring ; they seen the passion and desire and stayed up until midnight to get my ring just perfectly custom made. Michael being a professional Goldsmith and Anne being a professional Gemologist they are perfectly paired.
