While I do feel theyâve gotten better over the past year with prices and item availability, I have to say Iâm not a fan of buying spoiled meat. I know it can happen from time to time, but Iâve bought bad meat from this store more times than I believe should happen. Beef, pork, chicken and even fish. Iâve had to watch the dates and pass on anything very close to the sell by date because itâs usually not good when I get home. I also try not to shop on the weekends as it seems that weekends and Sundays the meat is worse. End dates and a lot marked down as managers specials. I donât mind that, but not full priced spoiled meat.
Iâve got meat now thatâs bad. Nothing worse than buying meat to make for dinner, ruin the evenings dinner plans and have no backup or time to make something else. I honestly donât want to go through the hassle of going back to return it. Thatâs tonight.
My first issue was having a bad Turkey on Thanksgiving that you bought the day before the holiday and having no back up. At least tonight I can order pizza for my kiddos. Wasnât the case on the holiday. They refunded me for the bird that time, but it didnât really help me on the day i needed the bird.
I hope they improve the meat department because I like most of the workers and think that theyâve been making some great improvements over the past year. The store is usually clean and appealing. Fresh baked goods in the bakery. A pretty good variety in organic and ethnic foods which is not always the case elsewhere. I donât like to leave negative reviews. I rarely leave one, but numerous experiences with bad meat there has me not wanting to buy any meat from this store at all.
1 star for the meat itself. While the meat and butcher folks are usually very nice, Iâd say that is moot if they are putting out bad meat.
3 stars for how they handle returns of said meat.
4 stars for the majority of the employees. Usually very nice and pleasant. Youâll always encounter one thatâs not.
4.5 stars for the store itself and the products, produce and availability of many items I canât...
Read moreI recently went grocery shopping with my 2 sons with autism ages 4&5 both non verbal ..,Grocery shopping is part of our weekly routine my 5 year old loves putting the food up at the registerâŚ.but for some reason every time I would try to get in line at the register my son kept making loud sounds (he is nonverbal) trying to tell me something but the words donât come out and sound like maybe crying or yelling which obviously started to draw a little attention but when he I noticed it would frustrate him I would walk awayâŚI tried getting in line maybe 5 timesâŚas soon as I walked away from the register he was instantly quiteâŚso I called my oldest daughter to come pick him up so I could cash outâŚWhile all this is going on I can see the workers making faces and talking thinking my son is having a tantrumâŚwe live just 2 mins away so his sister picked him up and I went back to the line with my 4 year old proceeded to put all the food up waiting to cash out and then here comes the cashier Kathy who instantly announces âThey had to carry him out andâ but while speaking realizes I was the mother standing in line waiting for her to stop watching out the window and come back to her register and do her actual job! I immediately said that is my son and he has autism she replyâs with I know thatâs sad.. No itâs not sad at all⌠whats sad is that your a grown woman leaving your register to go watch a 5yearold dealing with a sensory overload or fustration from not being able to verbally communicate or really communicate at all and then to top it off she was coming back to talk about a disabled little boy to her co workers and the next customer in line but it just happen to be me! No employee should be talking about customers nevermind a child especially in front of other customers! This was the most unprofessional atmosphere I have ever encountered in a workplace! And I usually always go to Shaws as their workers are so friendly and they are equal opportunity employed and always willing to help and not judge! I will never go back to this...
Read moreWhat happened to courtesy, customer service and acknowledging your customers. Was overcharged for organic strawberries (sale sign says $4.99 thru 8/5, receipt showed $6.99) Young man at service desk was not aware of price accuracy policy whereby you âget grocery items for free (if under $10) if you are overcharged at registerâ. I would say 4 out of 5 times I find an error on my receipt. After waiting for the store manager, I told the young man I was in a rush. He then paged a female supervisor. Immediately, both of them walk out of back office. The store manager didnât even acknowledge me, I explained the situation, he grabbed the strawberries out of my hand after asking what size I bought, walked over to verify the price (even though I had gone back and taken a picture). He seemed annoyed, started filling out paperwork for the refund (this is the 1st time this has happened). I asked him if the store policy was still the same as the young man didnât seem to be aware of it. He rudely answered me and gave me my $7 back without apologizing, or even looking at me. This store has gone down hill gradually over the years (I have been shopping here for 25 years) but even more so since Covid. First time writing a negative review about stop and shop but...
