Banana Republic Factory Store — Local services in Manteca

Horrible service, no concern for the customer whatsoever! A few weeks back, I purchased a pair of pants. I came into the store to see if there was a larger size in it. The manager helped me place an online order for the larger size and told me that I could return the original purchase once the new pair arrives. The new pair fits great so I drive a good 30 minutes to this store to return my original purchase. The cashier and a different manager now tell me that the original purchase is not returnable as it was a final sale. First of all, why did the initial manager who helped me not share this information before? Secondly, why can’t this manager simply honor what was guaranteed to the customer? To make things worse, the larger size (which fits me better) is somehow returnable. They are literally the same pair of pants, same color, both purchased online. But the larger size is returnable while the smaller size is not. So I literally just returned the size that fits me better only to keep the size that doesn’t. The tags even have the same number on it. And yet the manager still could not honor my request. What a ridiculous policy and even more ridiculous...

I accompanied a relative who had something at this store he wanted to get. I helped him find what he was looking for and while he was trying it on in the dressing room an older woman started following me around while I browsed. She literally got in my personal space way too close, so I honestly thought she might be a pick pocket. I clutched my purse under my arm and moved to the other side of the store and again she followed me. Turns out this older lady works at this store. You could have fooled me the way she was acting. I asked her why she was following me around the store and she said "I thought you might need help MAM." (Emphasis on "MAM.") The only help I need help is to find another store to shop where you don't have some weirdo following you...

My husband called me on the way home from banana republic yesterday to let me know he experienced the BEST customer service EVER from this team. They took care of him, asked him more than once if he needed help, saw things in his hand and took initiative to take clothes out his hand to start a fitting room.
