Berkot's Super Foods — Local services in Manteno

I absolutely love the meat department and the truckload sales! The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because sometimes the produce department is seriously lacking, but not always. To me the best kept secret is the Alexandra's peirogis!! They are way, WAY better than the national brands and have special flavors that I haven't seen in other brands. The maultashen flavor is my absolute favorite, it is a savory filling with spinach, breadcrumbs, and some type of pork or pork drippings. They are absolutely incredible, I like to boil them and then pan fry them in butter. As long as we are on the subject of great things that you can only find at Berkot's why don't you pair those peirogis with their smoked pork chops? They are not only incredibly tender, juicy and flavorful but they are so easy to prepare. You can throw them on the grill long enough to get some good grill marks and warm them through or sear them in a cast iron skillet on high heat just long enough to get some nice caramelization, either way you go; it can take you less than ten minutes because they are already thoroughly cooked from the smoking process. There are so many other things that I could rave about (if you haven't tried their bacon do yourself a favor and get some), but my reveiw is already a mile long. I hope that the 4 star review doesn't take away from the fact of how much I really do love this store but as I stated earlier the produce department does kind of throw me...

There is not enough room to tell you how fantastic my Manteno Berkot's is. The employees are all great. They are all hardworking and knowledgeable. They all go out of their way to help. The deli dept follows all request as to how you want things sliced and the deviled egg potatoe is the best and their fried chicken on Thursday is a must. The meat dept has the best packed slabs of ribs and never had a problem with any of their meat . Their produce is normally ok and the shelves are stocked and if you can't find something they will go in the back and see if it there. I have no complaints with my Berkot's store and we have been in Manteno a few years before they opened. Please give all the employees a raise and keep them happy, I have seen when customers were rude to them for no good reason. I have been to the others stores like Jewel, Aldi's Meijer and etc they are nice but Manteno's Berkot's is the best. I could go on but there is not enough...

I love berkots, I really do. The people there are super nice and the place always has what I’m looking for. But I went in there last night and I’m kinda confused with some of the stuff going on. I went to go buy grapes and they kinda looked funky so I was like “well they’re probably just what ever they have left”. Went to buy yogurt and it said it was supposed to be sold yesterday. None of it really was a super big deal though, just little things. But then I bought some eclairs from the bakery... So since they were from the bakery I just automatically figured “fresh as heck” but that ain’t the case. I bought them, took them home and they had a weird liquid on the bottom. I checked the date and they were supposed to be sold May 17th, well it is now June 3d. That’s a bit of a stretch my friend, 3 stars cuz I love you but 3 stars because I’m upset about...
