Dollar Tree — Local services in Marathon

I had the pleasure of being helped by Elsie last week during my recent visit to Dollar Tree, and I can not say enough good things about the experience. From the moment I walked in, she went above and beyond to ensure my needs were met and that I felt welcomed and valued as a customer. What stood out most was her professionalism, patience, and genuine kindness. She took the time to listen to my concerns, offered helpful solutions, and handled everything with a calm, friendly demeanor—even during a busy time in the store. It’s clear that Elsie truly cares about both the customers, the store’s reputation, and overall experience. In a world where great customer service can be hard to find, she truly shines. This level of dedication and leadership is rare and deeply appreciated. Dollar Tree is lucky to have someone like her representing them. Thank you again for making my shopping experience so smooth and pleasant. I’ll definitely be returning—and recommending this store to others—thanks to the exceptional service I received by her. I sadly can't say the same for her coworkers. Every single one seemed as if they were tortured when asked for assistance. Elsie was the only one who greeted and attended to us while we shopped. This store is supposed to be a lifeline in the Keys, but shopping here is always disappointing. The aisles are cluttered with overfilled carts that feel unsafe, and much of the merchandise isn’t even useful for the area.

Customer service is terrible. Some employees don’t speak English and simply ignore customers instead of trying to help. I had to use a translation app just to ask a basic question. The checkout line was ridiculous — one cashier working while the line stretched halfway down the health aisle. The Assistant Manager, Maribel, was finally called for backup but had the worst attitude. She didn’t smile, didn’t greet anyone, and barely muttered a thank you. She even pretended not to understand English with another customer, which was frustrating because she had already spoken broken English with me earlier.

There was no manager available when I asked for one, which says a lot. This is easily one of the worst stores for customer service, and sadly the other locations nearby aren’t much better. For a dollar store... It gets 5 stars. This is a legit dollar store. Everything in there is a dollar or less. The selection is amazing. For a vacationer, a person who is just trying to get by, or taking the grandkids on a adventure where a little toy might be involved this is the place. It's a great place to buy cards, party favors, snacks, medicine cabinet items, cleaners, kitchen items, pet products, even closet organizer items. One will be shocked to see the items that are in that store that you routinely pay way more than a buck for. The place is well stocked, well lit, and clean as a whistle. The staff is very helpful and most are multilingual. I'm a repeat customer, and I'm not to proud to say it. My great grandmother used to tell me take care of your pennies and the dollars take care of themselves. Well very true words. I'm still working on taking care of my pennies though.
