To say that I am extremely disappointed in my experience with CORT Furniture Outlet is an understatement. I leased furniture from CORT Furniture Outlet on March 14th, with delivery scheduled and completed on March 18th. What should have been a smooth process turned into a nightmare within a matter of days.
On March 29th, I slept in the provided mattress for the first time (bear in mind that the only thing I moved into my unit at this point are my clothes and shoes, which are in a walk-in closet in my bathroom, nowhere near the bedroom and all other items were newly purchased and packaged such as sheets, mattress protector, and pillows) — only to wake up covered in bites and surrounded by visible evidence of a bed bug infestation. I found eggs, larvae, and mature bed bugs — including two that were alive and that bit me during the night.
I immediately contacted CORT on March 31st. A CORT representative, Eric, was sent to my apartment the same day to inspect and confirmed that the mattress was indeed infested with bed bugs. They responded by sending Orkin to treat my apartment, not for my safety but because they did not want to risk transporting the infested furniture and carry the infestation home to their families (as I was informed by Eric after his inspection). The infested furniture was picked up on the morning of April 4th. However, since then, I’ve received no formal communication from CORT regarding a refund or compensation for personal belongings that had to be discarded due to exposure — items that couldn’t be salvaged or treated. The value of the lost items is approximately $300, plus the "deposit" that I paid for the furniture and having it delivered to my apartment.
This entire ordeal has caused significant stress, financial loss, and disrupted my ability to move into my new home. I’m now temporarily displaced, without furniture, and left without any accountability or resolution from CORT.
