O'Reilly Auto Parts — Local services in Marin City

I recently just got off the phone with Fernando. It’s about 7:50 p.m. local California time. Obviously after folks have a long day pretty amazing to get incredible service. He helped me find the right part number on a power steering pump. He went and beyond. We exchanged phone calls twice on the same part.

I thought I would bike over to the store as my work truck is down to get the part I thought was right. He let me know that the part that I wanted to get was probably not the correct one and that he would for sure order the correct one, but I was welcome to come over anyway if I wanted to. On his advice, I double checked the specific way the power steering line bent and discovered he was right that the part in stock would not have worked so he saved me a trip and gave excellent service. I needed some door panel clips for my venerable van. It's a cheap part ($20) and I had no loyalty to O'Reilly or any other auto parts shop, but I stopped in to the Marin City store because it was on my route. It turns out there is a dizzying array of potential door panel clips, and the vendors do not make it easy to select the right one.

Karene kindly spent about 20 minutes with me, examining my sample part, measuring door hole sizes, going over all of the possibilities on the computer, and ordering them for delivery the next day. Other staff in the store also pitched in with advice.

Raced over here after finding that one of my headlamps was not functioning while traveling on dark, winding roads. O’Reilly in Sausalito was one of the few places open at 7:30 AM on a Saturday. Fernando not only determined the correct part, he graciously installed it after verifying that it could be done easily and swiftly, as he was the only one in the store at the time.
