Ace Hardware of Marina — Local services in Marina

I was in need of a new wheelbarrow, so I went to my local Ace Hardware Store in Marina, California on the 17th of June, 2014. They had several wheelbarrows on display outside the store. My wife and I picked out the wheelbarrow that we liked and went inside to get one. Just our luck...they didn't have one in stock. I should have just left and went to Home Depot right then, but, I decided to go ahead and give Ace Hardware my business anyway. The man I talked to said he could order one and have it there within 10 days. I went ahead and paid him in cash for a steel wheelbarrow on the 17th of June. He said it would be in the store for pickup on the 27th of June. I was in the area of the store today (June 27th) and decided to drop in and see if my wheelbarrow was there. No one could find my wheelbarrow. They looked all over the place and finally someone came up front with a clipboard with the order information just to find out no one had even called in my order. My God, what kind of a place does business like this? The person I talked to said he would call in the order tomorrow. I told them that I wanted them to put a rush order on it. He said he would try but couldn't guarantee it. Obviously, I was very disappointed with Ace Hardware. I should have just gotten a refund and went on over to Home Depot. I am still...

Although Ace Hardware is a national chain, the one in Marina has more of a mom-and-pop feel to it. It's small enough where you don't feel lost in the wilderness like in the big box places, and it's very easy to find someone to help you locate an obscure item. Heck, most of the time I don't even have to ask for help. If you appear to be searching for something help is is usually offered without asking, in a polite non-pushy way. If you get an Ace rewards card you'll get discount coupons in the mail. My only caveat is that the door locks sold under the Ace brand name aren't constructed very well, and in my experience don't last. We've had problems with every one we've bought there. One lock failed completely and locked my son into one of our bathrooms. It froze up and refused to open. I had to destroy it with a sledgehammer to get him out. I'm dinging my rating one star because of that, but it's not really the Marina store's fault that Ace Brand door locks...
