Piggly Wiggly — Local services in Mary Esther

Shopped there for a long time with no problems. I know the managers, and employees. I shopped there and even worked there when it was Food World .

But, the other day I witnessed what I deem to be unprofessional even unethical practices.

A sale item rang up for less than it should have. I grant this was a problem.

But rather than honor the mistake and then fix it… the cashier deleted the item and rerang it at the higher price.

When I contacted the Manager, I was told it was acceptable to do this.

I don't think so. You honor the mistake, and immediately fix it in the computer.

You don't rering it by hand, and tell all the cashiers to ring it by hand at the higher price.

That is no different than my buying something that rings at one price and then being told it was a mistake, the price went up and the cashier reringing it at the higher price.

And I was more shocked at the managers response than the act itself. Very...

I shop here twice a week and choose to do so over Walmart or Publix...yet about a month ago, I wrote a review with some concerns and dissatisfaction with a change in the price for a gallon of milk. (skim milk to be exact) I immediately was responded to by a manager explaining why and the accidental reasons for the error that particular day. I believe his name was Tim. His explanation made since and the issue was fixed right away. Fixing the issue was one thing but to actually have a manager explain and then offer a refund for their error, well, to me...that is what makes the difference. Thank you sir for that and just so you know, even after that day, I still have been going to your store but now I give the 5 stars that I wanted to in the first place. Thanks again. Much rather go to Piggly wiggly than Walmart, their extra large eggs are cheaper than Walmart and so are the medium which had extra large in the carton. at least there you have cashiers you don't go up along aisle like cows going to slaughter to get checked out, with all sorts of goodies on each side, as far as I'm concerned it's a marketing ploy kids will get the parents to buy candy gum etcetera, etcetera that are on these isles that they have to see as they try to get to a self-checkout. you are lucky to see a human at one checkout register at Walmart, and what about the disabled, that elderly population at least used to shop at Walmart, it is a long way to walk to check yourself out, did whoever is in charge of Walmart ever take that into consideration, all they want is...
