The lake has amazing potential but is somewhat abused and taken for granted in my view.
I've been fishing here for nearly 20 years. I consider it the crown jewel of Matawan. It's a beautiful lake to kayak, paddleboard, fish or canoe on. The summer rentals are a nice touch, but because of its popularity the lake is heavily over-fished and the amount of liter left in the lake is disconcerting.
You can catch sunnies off the dock all day with worms, hotdog, and/or bread. If you're patient and have plenty of time you may catch a Pickerel, Bass, or Crappie but they have become more and more elusive due to constant pressure on the lake.
I'm not sure the lake has been stocked in years, but that would certainly make it a more enjoyable lake to fish given the amount of people it attracts.
