We have an adorable adoption story.. we found the Maui cat cafe online and we’re checking out the cats every couple days before we went to Maui. Our grandson saw Meowie (aka Beauty), he fell in love with her and we kept checking her out. Finally we made back to Maui and we ended up getting Covid so we didn’t think about adopting anything at the time being so sick. We felt bad that we didn’t make it to the cat cafe that trip but Covid said no. We went back 4 months later as a make up trip and to whale watch.. a few days before we flew out we saw that Meowie (aka Beauty) was adopted 😔 our grandson was so bummed, said to just adopt any other cat then.. lol.. Well we went straight to the cat cafe when we got to Maui and to our surprise Meowie was there!!! She was just returned by her adopted humans because they split up and neither wanted her 😔😔😔.. their loss our gain!! We adopted her on the spot, we went over the flight stuff and all then went on with our trip. Meowie stayed at the cat cafe while we vacationed on the west side of Maui. We drove out to take her to the humane society for travel shots etc and we got her medical records (she is a tripod). We brought her back to cat cafe with a medication to help her be calm during the 5.5 hour flight home. The cat cafe gave her the meds before we got there to fly home. She slept the whole flight. When grandson found out we got the kitty he picked he was over the moon!! We have had her 1 year now and she is a sweet and very sweet goofy girl. We have 2 other cats and she got close immediately with one and it took a little while for the other to accept her.. she is a great addition to our family. I would recommend adopting from the cat cafe on Maui!! You can adopt from the mainland too, they will help find a host to carry your adopted kitty on the plane to meet you at your mainland airport. It’s so easy to adopt and help minimize the booming cat...
Read moreI love this place and what Moriah has done for the cat community on Maui. The cats are so well cared for and allowed to do their own thing, be it running around with the zoomies or chilling out on one of the many perches.
I didn’t expect to open my fb and see my little Nohea one day, but I did! It was love at first sight. Moriah and her team made it possible for him to have all the correct paperwork and vaccinations fly home to Canada with me. I’m in Vancouver BC but it was very easy to fly to Seattle with him at my feet! He slept the whole way. If you connect via any mainland US city you can continue on to Canada as a way around the Canadian flight restrictions.
I’m so happy to have my little Nohea guy, he has such an affectionate and weird personality and fits perfectly into our home with two other Hawaiian cat siblings.
Also being at the Cat Cafe and hanging out with Blu is...
Read moreMaui Cat Rescue is an interesting rescue run by a lovely woman. They do a lot to empower other rescues. For example, they created a terrific flight database program where island tourists submit their flight details. A handful of trusted reputable rescues on the islands have access to the database and can select flights to locations where they need to send their cats. The tourist lets the cats hitch a ride at their feet in cabin, and the a rescue partner or adopter is waiting at the airport when the tourist & kitty land. Really easy process and has helped us save 100's of cats. The database is a huge winner for all of us. Maui Cat Rescue is also involved in the Cat Cafe Maui which has saved nearly 1000 cats since their inception. Additionally, Maui Cat Rescue has donated money and items to other Maui rescues, further empowering them to save...
