Guy behind the counter was super cool and nice, and I know it’s not his call, but I was in a pinch for a single valve pad for a clarinet. Like I went in a half hour before close and needed the clarinet in the morning. My problem mostly, I know, but they don’t sell individual parts without an in-shop repair. I got by with duct tape on the valve for now and ordered a set of pads on Amazon that comes with two of every pad on a clarinet for $10. I would have paid $10 just to get one pad right there and then. It’s a really beat up clarinet that already has tape all over it and really just not worth investing anything more than the pad into. But it works, it works now, and will work better when actual pads come in from Amazon, 90% of which I don’t need right now. I would have preferred to just pay them $10 for...

Watch out when your rental instrument is almost paid off! I picked up a new rental cello in March and was informed that it was a rental. I was willing to deal with the flaws (cracked bottom) since I believed that it was a rental. Our cello teacher informed us that the bridge was too high so when I called in May to get it fixed they informed me that I now owned the instrument and I couldn't exchange it for another rental. I paid over $3,000 in rental fees over 5 years and I don't get to choose my child's final instrument! Horrible customer service at the end of five...

Music & Arts has taken over Motter Music’s lessons & rental business. Been bringing my son for guitar lessons (Joe Parker is an awesome guitar teacher) here for 8 years all the while it was called Motter Music. Soooo glad the location is still involved with lessons! I consider the funky, old-school location a neighborhood institution ... I so enjoy my visits here since the cool building is like a step back in time. Looking forward to seeing Music & Arts vision...
