Ever since the popularity of shows like "Toy Hunters," "Storage Wars," and the popular AMC show, "Comic Book Men," anyone who has enough capital to open their own comic book and toy store fancies themselves to be an "expert" or an "authority" on the subject. Such is the case here at All Things Collectible. I will occasionally wander in here about every six months just to browse. The inventory NEVER changes, at least not the toys or action figures. The individual who owns/runs this establishment, obviously really does not want to sell any of the "cool" items he has on display as everything is so overpriced, that it defies explanation. There is NOTHING in this store that, if you're willing to be patient, you can't get off Ebay or Amazon for half the price of what this guy is gouging you for. I was in this place recently and everything looks to be in the same place as it was when I visited there in August. I saw the same item recently that has been there for over a year. He has no sense of what this is worth as I was able to get it off Ebay within four days and half the cost that this pinhead had it marked at. Honestly, I would have much rather have purchased it locally from him. But this guy has such an inflated sense of what his stuff is worth and... he's such an arrogant jerk, I can't see how he's still in business. Avoid this place... browse Amazon and Ebay... compare sellers, make sure they have good feedback and make your purchase from them instead. You won't feel like you...
Read moreMy main takeaways were how blatantly overpriced everything was although the store was quite large and the variety of collectibles (new, older, rare) was very impressive.
It’s really a shame just how exorbitant the prices are as many items were of interest to me. My main focus was Funko Pops which took up a sizable percentage of the store. Every single type of Funko item was 25-300% overpriced.
Newer common items readily available at countless other reputable stores were priced above their retail price.
Other slightly older items that are not in demand at all were 2-3x the price they’re worth and easily purchased on sale or clearance anywhere you look. (An example item could be purchased for $10 on my phone when in the store looking at the $40 price tag)
Older, rarer and in-demand items are all at least double their value as well as what they can easily be purchased for on the secondary market.
I was also impressed with the selection of statues, action figures and models however they were similarly priced. I can’t speak to the TCG, sports cards, comics or vintage toys which there were also a very large amount of.
I’d recommend browsing the store to enjoy such a large and diverse collection however all of the stuff that catches your eye should be noted and purchased at a MUCH more realistic and reasonable price...
Read moreSo me and my son took off on a Saturday morning, he collects action figures and we had seen this place when we searched "action figure stores" so we decided to go, we live 45 mins away from Gastonia. As we came up on the place from following Google maps it told me to turn right but the place it was taking me to looked like a empty, abandoned building, the parking area was very small and there were no cars anywhere, I passed by and turned on a side street right beside it, it took us around the building and back to the main road! I told my son I'm gonna at least pull in and see what's going on, we've came this far! So we did and as we got out we finally seen the doors to the building, we walked inside a BAM!!!! This place was HUGE and AMAZING! I was blown away! There was 3 massive rooms of comic books, action figures of all kinds and pretty much anything collectible! It just proves the ol' sayin true....... Never judge a book by its cover! My son found some cool things and we both said we would...
