My true rating is 3.5 stars...somewhere between "it was ok" and "I liked it". I love the very fact that the people of the town do this! We drove about 3 hours to experience it. If we lived closer it would definitely be an annual thing for us. We went on Christmas day and the weather was gorgeous so that helped a lot! Hats off to the people who take the time and pay the expense to put on such a display for the general public at no cost each year. The restaurants and shops were closed when we went (Christmas day) so I'm sure the experience is even better when those are open. Would love if they had carolers, etc. Getting there about an hour before dark has multiple benefit: 1) you can see the area before dark and get sense of where things are...if it's your first time, 2) you can find a place to park, 3) you can snap some good pics, 4) you can watch the area transform (lights and volume of people) as you go from from day to night.

We’ve been to many Christmas parades, villages and festivals over the years. This one was a little hokey. It was cute, yes, very small-scale, hometown-feel type of thing, but definitely not worth the traffic headache! We battled 485 traffic coming in, walked 30 minutes to the parade, waited 45 minutes and then it was literally a horse-drawn carriage, a small band, and a trailer full of kids followed by a large number of people “pulling” the Yule log on a sled. It was over in about 8 minutes and it was VERY crowded! The town is cute, yes. We walked around an area where cars weren’t allowed. Most of the places you can’t see as well from a car, or at least the best places weren’t accessible by car anyways. It was a “check it off the list” visit, but will not likely return. Too much hype for such a little ordeal.

This is one of the best spot to see the Christmas lights in North Carolina. The whole town is decorated with thousands and thousands of lights. Below are highlights 1. There is no entry fee, it’s absolutely free 2. You can cover all lights just by walk and that is the best way(by car you can not see all the lightings and also couple of streets are restricted for outsiders than Mcadenville residents) 3. Click photos with Santa 4. Lake view with lights is awesome 5. Few of houses are decorated too good Things to note down 1. You can go early (before 5.00 pm) so that parking won’t be problem. Else some spots get full. Google it for the more details on parking provided In Mcadenville website 2. It’s bit cold so better carry extra layer

It was hard trying to figure out how to get there there was no signs tell you how to get at the starting of this place I had never been there before but I have all ways wanted to go so some of my close friends drove there and they had never been there before too. I hope to maybe come back again some times to see more it was raining and was cold it was the first night of Dec. But the police had the road blocked .the way our GPS told us to go in but they told us to go down another road but it did not tell us what way and there where no signs telling us where to turn .and no one to tell us we turned around 3 times and then we saw a lot of people walking so we just turned and watched where they was walking from and Finley got in the middle of town and we saw half of it and we drove from Greensboro that was a long trip to only see part of it. We turned around at this church that was so nice they gave us a cup of hot chocolate that helped some what they was very nice to us and I would say they made us feel so welcome that made us like the people there. But they need to put signs up telling people where to begin and tell people how to go that would help a lot of more to figure out how to get there. It was fun anyway an one more thing marked off...

We wasted a hour of our time trying to find this place and didn’t even get to see it. There needs to be an address for people to put in the GPS to get to the right location to enter McAdenville. The GPS takes you to an entrance that is blocked off and confusing with make shift signs that say “follow signs not the GPS.” The towns of Cramerton, Belmont, and McAdenville do not have the infrastructure to support the kind of traffic these events bring. There should be better signage and officers directing traffic. There were plenty of officers blocking McAdenville road but none directing traffic to the lights or preventing people from cutting the line into McAdenville. People were turning in non turning lanes to cut the line despite barricades in place on some streets. What they should do is charge money for this even to cut down on...
