Bottom line: Summit good. Hayden bad. I ordered a Hayden heavy duty engine oil cooler from Summit Racing. It arrived on time and the packaging was undamaged. Un boxing- the hardware bags were not sealed and hardware tended to scatter when the box was opened. The problems then began. A critical O-ring was missing. During assembly I discovered two hose barbs were incorrect for the application. Three flat washers were missing. further into the job it was discovered the part that hold the sandwich adapter in place (also the part that the oil filter will mount to) was incorrect for the application (Ford F-150). Very frustrating when you have your truck all apart. Now the really bad part... Customer service. Multiple calls to Hayden CS were usually transferred to 4-Seasons. Then they defer to Summit. Okay but on the last call where I was trying to explain the problem originates at Hayden where the parts are originally packaged the rep constantly talked over me not listening to what I was trying to explain. At that point I was on my last nerve and had to literally yell in the phone at the rep to shut up and listen to their customer for one minute. He added insult to injury at this point. Then I was transferred to 4-seasons again only to be left waiting over ten minutes and no one answered the phone. I gave up and called Summit who was very friendly and helpful getting resolution to the problems created by Hayden. In closing- the oil cooler and sandwich plate both look well made and proper for the application. Packaging of the proper hardware and customer service were horrible. Hayden can and should fix this internal issue. Currently I cannot recommend buying from Hayden Automotive Group. Summit Racing saved the day by determining what part was needed and over-night...
Read moreLet me start off by saying summit in my eyes use to be a role model of how the performance industry sales should be molded after. After spending money with them for 20 plus years my thoughts have changed. I had a bad red top optima battery that didn’t make it a year without going bad. I know stuff happens, so no worries. I drove over a hour to Summit to have it warrantied out. Get there and the store manager automatically starts giving me lip service about how do I know the battery is bad and that I don’t have a drain in my car. I told him I charged the battery over night and reinstalled it in the car the next morning and still had to jump it off. After jumping it off I made a short trip about 10 miles and came back to my house and shut the car off and it was completely dead and would not crank the car. Instead of going through the warranty process the store manager starts talking to me like he’s trying to train me on what I should have done and asking if I charged the battery with a approved optima charger which it does not need. All it needed was a AGM battery charger and that’s what it had. It’s not rocket science. So he wants to argue with me back and forth until the point I told him to just refund my money since it was such a hassle. Little did he know I had almost $7,000 in my online Summit cart for a motor swap for a mustang. Well thanks to his attitude and hassle he just gave that business to JEGS. I will never buy another thing from Summit again because of him. So congratulations on your store manager. He just ran a...
Read moreI would not recommend summit racing products, they will tell you items are available & ready for shipment... then after you order , then you will find the items are not available, I had ordered all 4 shocks back in October, They shipped the rear only, said the front would arrive the following week. That date passed, then they said it would be mid November, That date past, then changed to end of November, changes twice more in December, Meanwhile without a moment of assistance from Summit- just more lies... as they say on the website that the shocks that I’m missing are still available to any new customer that might want them... a complete & utter lie as they have zero in stock, I contacted a few other distributors to find they had none either, one had over 1200 on back order another had 350, the one with 1200 told me they had been on order since June & they didn’t expect them anytime soon. I also spoke to the Manufacturer Bilstein, again with absolutely no assistance from Summit! And they told me the factories had been mostly shut down since March... and not to expect any shocks any time soon- This would have all been wonderful information that Summit could and should have shared with their customer- So I canceled my remaining order from Summit On Friday, ordered another comparable brand from Rock Auto and they shipped them out the same day! Now that’s awesome customer service, Unfortunately now I will have mixmatched shocks on my truck because of Summit not being honest & ethical with their...
