REVIEW ADDED NOVEMBER 3, 2023
We tried Chalo's for the first time the other night, and we liked it enough to return. My husband ordered the Birria Taco plate, which was $13.99 if I remember correctly (I'll share pictures of the menu). He said they tasted right but could've used more flavor. He's Mexican, so I'm sure he's extra picky about birria tacos that are full of flavor and actually look red and juicy. These were red enough. They come with the broth on the side as well. He also ordered 3 Jalapeño "tacos." They're basically Jalapeños fried in egg battle that coats the pepper. It comes with a chipotle sauce. My son loved his lemon pepper wings. I stole one big, fat wing, and it WAS good and full of flavor. 10 pieces for $12.99 for good-sized wings is worth it to me. I'll be ordering those next! My burrito was big and tasted good. I added some of the birria broth from my husband's order so it could add more flavor to the carne asada. I enjoyed it as well. My son ate the rest of my burrito. It's a good size for $11.95.
All in all, we are satisfied and will be coming back!
A little heads-up; if you or your child are sensitive to noise, make sure you cover your ears or have your child wear noise canceling headphones when you're going inside since they have music blasting very loudly outside of the restaurant. I'm sure they do it to attract attention to the restaurant, but it's loud, so keep that in mind. I don't like loud noises, but I ignored it since I went inside anyway, but my daughter hated how loud it was and covered her ears as we made our way inside the restaurant.
The guy that took the order was nice and friendly. Good customer service is very important to us. I think he did...
Read moreSimply Top-Tier, Peak Mexican Food Ate here yesterday, came back today, and I plan on returning weekly. Just like that, a new regular is born. They know what they are doing, and they've got it all figured out. Somehow, they have shattered the "Iron Triangle" with this spot by providing top-quality food for a reasonable price and getting it to you just as quickly, if not faster than, most drive-throughs. The flautas I had yesterday were so flavorful, and the texture was a perfect crispy/soft ratio. I wish I had taken pics because the colorful sauces and fresh produce made an excellent presentation as well. Being among some of my favorite beverages, I tried the horchata and hibiscus drinks. Neither of them disappointed, I couldn't think of one example where I had better. Bro at the counter was super chill, very welcoming, helpfull and insightful. I left there in a better mood than when I came in and hadn't even tasted the food yet. The same goes for the angel who bestowed upon me the glorious bounty in which I partook in today. That beautifully thick n juicy, but not sloppy, mouthwatering piece of art torta from today left me completely satisfied and simply puts other sandwich shops to shame. It had to have been hand crafted by the angel whom I had received it from herself, thus explaining its perfection. If you haven't tried this place, you are...
Read moreThis authentic Mexican food hits different. It is connected to a non-descript Shell gas station, but don't let that fool you. The restaurant is counter service, with a couple of tables inside and a few picnic tables outside. The menu is straight forward, with tacos, burritos, quesadillas, burgers, and wings. I ordered the chicken quesadillas and Chalo fries, not knowing what to expect. The quesadillas were hot and fresh, with plenty of meat and cheese accompanied by fresh jalapenos and cilantro. There were two quesadillas, and both were huge. I barely finished the first, and split the second with my wife one for dinner. The Chalo fries were perfectly seasoned, with garlic, parmesan, BBQ sauce, and cilantro. I shared these with my co-worker, because again, it was a large portion. The customer service was on point, and I was greeted with a smile. I have added Chalo to my work lunch list and will be returning to try the birria tacos next. This is truly a hidden gem, but I am sure it won't...
