I was recently a patron with a small group at JR Crickets restaurant in McDonough, Georgia.
After I paid my bill (and left), upon closer inspection of the receipt, I noticed that I was improperly charged or overcharged for the following items:
0.75 cents for "multiple sauce split" for 20 wings even though 20 wings automatically and already came/comes with 2 sauces which I was advised of by my waitress;
0.99 for blue cheese (dressing (4th charge on receipt) even though it either 1) automatically came with the wings or 2) additional charge was not told to me by my waitress;
0.99 for ranch (dressing (7th charge on receipt) even though it either 1) automatically came with the wings or 2) additional charge was not told to me by my waitress;
$1.43 service charge - Not only do I not recall seeing the service charge notice on the menu at the restaurant, but the service charge notice does not appear on your (online) menu nor do I understand why there is a service charge to begin with. I am not ok with paying a service charge, especially when I was unaware of such charge prior to or at the time of ordering and such charge was not disclosed to me in advance of ordering; and
$8.58 for 18% gratuity fee purportedly based on the purchase of $45.00 or more. Similarly, just as above, I did not see and was not aware of any notice on the menu at your McDonough location of such an auto gratuity charge, which conversely appears on the attached menu from the North Ave. (Atlanta) location.
Again, this charge is nowhere on your online menu. Notwithstanding the fact that this auto gratuity fee was not disclosed to me, if you add up the total amount of the food I purchased, it adds up to $44.96 -- under the $45.00 charge, which triggers the 18% gratuity and as such for the reasons stated above and below, I should not have been charged this fee.
I believe that my bill was improperly and deceptively padded in order to get to or over the $45.00 charge in order to trigger the 18% auto gratuity.
I did not and do not agree that I was subject or required to pay this fee (or the others listed above) since I was unaware of it/them and because it reasonably appears as though unfair and deceptive business practices were utilized in my transaction as detailed above.
I would not go to this restaurant unless you want to be hit with undisclosed and excessive fees.
Reply to Owner Response:
The owner of JR Crickets in McDonough, Carlton Mayfield, never responded to my email several weeks ago asking for resolution of the matter, which he ignored as shown by his admission below that he received my email, yet did nothing I would never and I suggest you never do business with JR Crickets in McDonough, Georgia who ignores and blows off customer complaints and concerns. There were reasons that this restaurant was empty the day I went there and I know why. As for the claim or allegation that my review was dishonest - not the case. Nothing unethical about my review whatsoever. Notice how there was no rebuttal to my claims and arguments. As for the bible verse quoted likening or comparing a weapon to a customer review of a...

Hostile Lunch Environment
I’ve always loved J.R. Crickets, but my experience at the McDonough location was incredibly disappointing. I simply asked for fresh fries because the ones I received were cold. Instead of understanding the request, the waitress told me no, explaining the order had been sitting. When I asked to speak with the manager/owner, he was more reasonable and agreed to give me fresh fries. Unfortunately, the waitress then went to the back and was clearly unhappy, and when the manager returned, he had an attitude as well.
It’s unfortunate to be treated so poorly when you’re just trying to support a business. This is actually the second bad experience I’ve had here, and there won’t be a third. I support J.R. Crickets and their brand, but this particular location needs to work on how they treat their customers. All I wanted was some hot fries for my family—crazy, right? You can definitely feel when you’re not welcome, and sadly, that was the case here.
I eventually received the fries and I apologize to the manager for costing you so much money.
Wings were good for whatever that’s worth.
I will now be giving a review of 1 stars because I Can feel the same attitude that I received in the restaurant if you are going to be in this industry learn how to treat people and take accountability the Service industry is really suffering because of people like you and you seem to be an older gentleman which is even sadder. If you can’t be pleasant to the people you serve please, higher people that can. It’s usually not what you say it’s how you say it. It’s not what you do it’s how you do it. I don’t write reviews unless I get horrible food or Horrible service. For the record didn’t think I had to mention that we are in the metro Atlanta area and there is traffic everywhere. Also there is no need to lie it was not an 1hr and 10 mins after I placed my order, let’s please get real sir. The reply to my comment has brought out the same trauma I faced while in your restaurant twice I guess I’m a glutton for punishment. Won’t happen again though please treat people better man you need to really work on that...
Read moreI had to go in and edit this post as apparently not allowed to leave more than one. The weirdo owner replied to this review and gave me a fake number for corporate! They just let anyone buy into a franchise ! 🙄 If I could give 0 stars I would . I went on Saturday 8/12/23 and my experience was HORRIBLE from beginning to end . There was a party in there and the one cashier was serving them and asked me to wait . I sat by the register and the owner came out back and asked if he could take my order . He was rude and short and insinuated I was mistaken when I explained I couldn’t call in my order because they wouldn’t answer the phone! I sat in there for 28 minutes when they had very little business just to get two 15 piece wing orders . During the wait it started pouring down raining in sheets . When my food was finally up , she popped the boxes and I’ve never in my life seen wings so small literally ! But I was not going to ask for refund after that long wait in addition to the weather and I’m hungry . Get back home , not only were my flavors wrong but the wings and fries were sooo hard they literally crunched like I was chewing ICE . they were old wings he redropped and sauced . They were like jerky . I paid close to $50 for 30 tiny wings and 2 hand fulls of fries . It’s pouring down still and I live over 20 minutes away so I called . The supposed manager said the owner cooked my wings and no way they were old because they only sale fresh wings . They are never even frozen (which makes no sense) therefore insinuating I was a liar and reluctantly offered me to drive all the way back down in the rain 25 minutes away so I could trade the wings out. NEVER AGAIN . I was so mad I was seeing red . McDonough location is not representing the company I’ve been eating from for nearly 20 years ❗️ I could not find...
